Started of searching the Internet just because I was horny. Actually came across an enthralling and proffessionally written story. Changed my opinion about the Tomb Raider reboot, the little nuances like “Sam wanted to say ... but instead...” were so well observed from real life. The sex scene felt refreshingly loving and relatable and the ending was very very touching. I even laughed a few times. Originally I’d be someone who hated fanfics and thought they were sad and cringey made by tumblr losers however this completely changed my opinion and sucked me into the story. Thank you for writing this

I came here from your article on blogspot, the one about Lara possibly being gay. Very well written, that one. But that is not why I'm writing this review.

First of all, you nicely transferred the point of the article into the story. I have nothing against Lara being explicitly gay, but I think bisexual is a better choice, for a host of reasons. So yeah, happy you went that way. And happy that Lara and Sam got together, even if you did end it on somewhat pessimistic note. Like many others, I was a little confused by the scene at the end. I assume it's there to illustrate that the romance has been brewing since long time ago, it only took some time(and a whole lot of pain) to bring it out?

One more thing that confused me was the last sentence of the second chapter. Not sure what the deal with Matthias was... that Lara was suddenly sporting the same facial expression as he did, maybe? Would be happy if you could clarify that.

Now, I'm going to say I liked the way you presented the friendship between the two ladies and how you eventually turned it into a romance. Haven't read the sequel yet, but I do intend to, so I'm going to hold my judgements for when that is done.

However, what I positively *loved* was the showing of Lara's pain. And let me make one thing clear... I didn't enjoy it. And while I'm no psychiatrist and never experienced what a PTSD looks like(personally or from anybody close to me), however, this is what I imagine a PTSD would look like. There were many small lines that made a cold shiver run down my back. And because of moments like those, this story stood out. While Crystal Dynamics made a good work at showing what hell Lara went through on Yamatai, it was nice(although, much like in the game, very disturbing) to see somebody tackle the sore spot and focus on less pleasant side of surviving... namely, that thing Lara saw, experienced and done on the island would leave wounds on her, and not just physical ones. It would be so easy to wrap everything in wrap paper and just say everything went ok. You didn't, and for that I applaud you.

I never played the old Tomb Raider games. Until the 2013 reboot, Lara was just a bunch of pixels that was a fanservice for players all around the world. The said reboot finally made her human. Now, your story has added an extra layer of humanity to an already well crafted character, by focusing on her suffering, her experience and, finally, her love for her friend. And for, I am thankful and grateful.

...all you stories r terrible. You have this obsession with darkness and claim you have to write the good end but it's not the good and it's just the dark end.

sigh.

I get it. I do, but this Lara is just so incredibly frustrating that I don't even want to read anymore of her. Lara/Sam doesn't even need to be the end game here, but the way Lara ends things... Honestly, I just don't care for her anymore. There's a way to make a flawed character who's an asshole but still enjoyable to read... but this one falls flat.

Ohh poor them!

Thorn between saying you're cruel or brilliant kkkk. The story is great, very well written, but the ending killed me. I know the world is cold and cruel and the night is dark and full of terrors, but to just have Lara leave after that night? So sad... Poor Sam! How about a follow up story continuing after the letter? No? Maybe? Pretty please?

I'm really confused about the flash back story? And the abrupt ending with the letter? Surely Sam would have tracked Lara down...

Absolutely loved it. Excellent plot and realistic characterisation. Your writing style is so original and exciting to read, full of wonderful and hilarious expressions. I always love your interpretations of the Lara/Sam dynamic too, I'm currently reading Sun and Moon over on ao3 which is also great. I am thrilled whenever I see it updated. I really wish you had been involved in writing the rise of the tomb raider plot, maybe then Sam would have been in it!

Slight overuse of American/Englishwoman/archaeologist but otherwise awesome. The endings of your fics lead me to suspect you may be the devil, though. All those feels, you fiend. :(

Anyway, this is probably one of my favourite Tomb Raider fics I've read so far. I loved your characterizations and I loved that they were consistent. Heading over to read the sequel now.

Was not expecting that ending!

Beautifully written, witty, love how you depicted their relationship. A very sad ending, but I think Lara's (very realistic) PTS and her inability to cope with the trauma she experienced made it inevitable. So the ending was unexpected but felt right under the circumstances.

See you've got a sequel so I'm looking forward to reading that too.
