Hmm...so Rick's had the ring for a while, and the end of "Watershed" is his last ditch big push? Definitely makes sense, though...regardless of what Kate's answer will be about DC, the idea of moving up to being a federal agent is a big wake-up call about how playing to Kate's tune really has one ending: together but sitting in a holding pattern, regardless of location.

It may be just how my mind works, but personally? I have to wonder about the timing of the offer to Kate. She's worked beside the FBI and Homeland Security multiple times in canon and been a very large part of why the joint investigations got solved (along with Castle, of course) and only now they're offering her a spot in the crime-fighting big leagues after helping to stop a serial killer, multiple terrorist bombings and the nutballs who commandeered a UCAV? I have to wonder if everyone's favourite US Senator for New York (Bracken) isn't trying to kill two birds with one stone...pay back Kate's rescue during the attacks on him earlier in the seasons, and get Kate into a prestige job that would keep her out of his hair.

It's been a week and I still don't know how I feel about the proposal. I need to watch again but I'm still so torn over the ep BUT this is exactly how I think it went. He's had the ring for months. I don't doubt that one bit and I hope we hear something about it come September.
