Reviews for Best Man
LittleLurker chapter 1 . 11/27/2017
Another very LOVELY and beautifully written story. Thank you!
...and with regard to Sherlock's emotions you weren't very far of the mark - I think it was all there in the actual episode as well.
And by now, it all got resolved quite nicely. The show even made me like Mary despite her having shot Sherlock, but she was kind of desperate and she was clever and Sherlock got all of that plus the dangerous (and survivor) aspect. And then - to make it all better - she jumped in front of him in S4.1 - so, at least in my world, things are good again. Well, even more so after S4.2 after John actually stopped laying the blame on Sherlock. I've already thought at the end of S4.1 that it probably had more to do with John's anger management issues and his guilt over having (nearly) cheated on Mary, because conciously he did know that Mary's death wasn't Sherlock's fault... Anyway, I still loved your take on the wedding!

Very nice! !
AntiHeroLydia chapter 1 . 8/9/2014
During the wedding I felt like crying a little bit...
I just hate seeing Sherlock all sad like that :(
But it ended relatively happy :) so yay! :D
The Jumble Book chapter 1 . 7/22/2014
Aww, just want to reach into this fic and give Sherlock a hug, bless him! Great stuff!
BoleynOrWhat chapter 1 . 4/27/2014
Thank God for Mrs Hudson!
Poor Sherlock, in a way, his feelings about the whole matter were similar in the actual episode, after all.
HCP chapter 1 . 2/6/2014
Very sweet and sad, I love Mrs Hudson's subtle plan to comfort Sherlock without his noticing, brilliant characterisation.
PBIceCream chapter 1 . 8/3/2013
That was sweet, lovely, and gave me such a warm feeling, thank you!
Gonzo76 chapter 1 . 8/3/2013
Oh, this was lovely. Thanks for sharing it.
Fang's Fawn chapter 1 . 7/29/2013
Very nicely done. You might enjoy a story I read recently, an awesome story by thereluctantrose called "Scenes From a Treaty" that deserves way more reviews than it has. A post-RF story, it's told mostly from Mary Morstan's point of view, and is a wonderful story about how she and Sherlock learn to share John. The author very believably moved Mary (whom I quickly came to love) and John into 221C Baker Street, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that series 3 will do the same!
hjohn302 chapter 1 . 7/10/2013
Somehow I had missed seeing this story.

I love it. I love how you treated Sherlock's emotions here, how he did everything he could to hide it from John so that John could be happy and unworried on his wedding day.

I enjoyed seeing it from Mrs. Hudson's POV as well... that she saw what Sherlock was going through when John wasn't there. Much like Molly had noted before how Sherlock looked sad when he didn't think John was looking. Her "fix" for the situation of the wedding night (a danger night for Sherlock if I've ever seen one) was a perfect one, and that Sherlock saw through it, but accepted it was sweet.

I like this line...
"And it is cosy here in Mrs Hudson's flat, cosy and so much less empty."

and this...
"Present tense, Sherlock notes with a small jolt of his stomach. He quickly types his reply: Aren't you on the plane already? Illegal procedures, Dr. Watson? S
His phone pings again only half a minute later: I learned from the best. J
Sherlock stares at the message until the phone goes into stand-by mode; funny how such a few words can make one feel better."

Again, great job!
themultifandomjess chapter 1 . 6/3/2013
This should be classed as a deadly weapon, my feelings are in tatters :( It's like Ron Weasley says 'You'll suffer, but be happy about it.' My heart goes out to Sherlock, but the ending gives me hope that maybe one day, he may be ok again (or as ok as he can ever be).
Thank you, I absolutely love this story even if I am a Johnlock shipper to the end of my days. While it kills the possibility of my OTP being canon, I can't hate Mary that much, not having her wouldn't be in-keeping with Doyle's stories which the Sherlock writers aim to do.
AnythingBut chapter 1 . 6/3/2013
I love you, will you marry me? And if you do, will you please write write write so I can read more of your stuff?
Seriously, I am in awe once more (which I believe I have already said on another occasion), this is so amazing!
I have been following setlock and agree about some members of our fandom behaving abominably. We do have fanfiction to fix our Johnlock feels, haven't we? Apart from that, I can't say what I love best about this story: Mrs Hudson's sly cheekyness, Sherlock doing his best to be John's Best Man, or Lestrade telling bad jokes. )
I think my favourite line apart from all the cuteness in the last scene is "At that, Sherlock feels four pairs of eyes turning towards him." I can see it all before me. Thank you very much for sharing this great little gem.
Firefly-ish chapter 1 . 6/2/2013
The love between Mrs H and Sherlock is palpable in this story, so I'd definitely rate it as sequel for Baker Street! I have seen the pics and didn't John and Sherlock look adorable in their outfits!
The beginning is already very lovely, one can see Sherlock binding John's tie and their quiet conversation.
Throughout the whole story, you've got the emotions down perfectly, and I love how Mrs Hudson uses her hip as a means to get what she wants- in ASiB you can see that side of her, when she pulls the cameraphone out of her bra. )
Another really well done piece, thank you!
Vivi-ntvg chapter 1 . 6/2/2013
Ok, first of all: WHAAAAT? WHY? WHY? xDD I hadn't seen those pictures, thanks for pointing it out! Nah, but seriously, I guess it was bound to happen and John and Sherlock couldn't keep living together forever, so...
Anyways, this was a really sweet story and I enjoyed it! :D Of course John's always going to be there... :)
