This is the perfect look into Rivaille's mind when he saw the fate that befell his squad. And that line regarding Petra! I don't see him as someone who would outwardly show his feelings, so if we were to suppose that something happened between them behind close doors, this fic would fit right into it.

This was perfect & the way you snuck in this line where he sees Petra:
"he thinks of what could have been if everything was over and they weren't soldiers, just people."

This was my favorite line, I adored that little smidgen line; it was set perfectly for how I think Rivaille feels about his relationship with Petra or how I visualized it. Thank you for this, this like a closure for me, because I JUST finished that chapter today. :") thank you.

Very interesting look into Rivaille's mind. You've really given him a more human edge with this story. I'd suggest you watch your tenses more though. You started the story with present tense but at some parts you inexplicably enter past tense before jumping back to present tense. Get rid of that and this will be perfect! :)
