Sam does seem to be the favorite for the short straw in these stories. I would've liked the college buddy to have survived, but still a good and dramatic story with some nice fluffy bits at the end. I wonder how different this would have gone a few seasons later? Thank you for posting?

OMG Miss Hannah this was so... Gaw good! I love it so perfect! This is how I always see Dean- awesome Big brother to the rescue and Sam even though he is bull headed and has an independence streak he consciously and unconsciously knows he needs his big brother when he's hurt , scared or just plain old confused. only between the walls and him he admitted 'doesn't make him a helpless little brother" - so cute and adorable!
You touched on everything I like for a hurt and comfort Sam story- brilliant and then some!
I never thought abut how Sam must of felt like when he was at Stanford away from his dad and brother... all he knew since he was baby until he was 18... then all on his own...gosh never thought it had actually affected Sam or if he even thought about it...huh makes sense they did always have his back and looking out for him, even when he hated being treated as the youngest. Great research and thoughtful thinking there. I cant wait to read more of your stories I hope they are all like this!

Every time I troll through my favorites list and read this one, I love it just a little bit more and only just now realized I'd never reviewed it! Right off, the Sentinel connection makes me smile. I adored that show. Total Sandburg groupie. Lol

The characterizations in this are just fantastic. Dean's dogged determination to find and protect his brother, Sam's absolute faith that Dean will be there and can 'fix' it and his heartbreak at poor Mel, Bobby's gruff affection and care... everything about this story is wonderful. Thanks for this one!

Aw man, these kinda stories are always so freakin' sad. It's the humans that you really have to watch out for - at least you know what to expect from the monsters. It's just amazing how people like the sheriff and his partner really exist, and it is worse that they can do such things to their significant other. I just don't get it. And then the pollution to the kids as well... At least they didn't have kids! I am glad that Melody called Sam in. Kent might not have been caught otherwise, and it definitely needed to happen. I like how you mentioned that Bobby had some actual connections to the FBI, too; that some of them knew what was really out there. I was actually thinking about that the other day - how the officials had to have some knowledge as well (I guess there was that one witch cop in S8...). They got there just in time too! Man, I just can't... They were going to burn the building down as well! They're the monsters! Lol, I like how you had Sam say that on TV as well. xD He was so out of it, I could see that... Poor guy. I liked the way you described his awakenings after the hospital. It really gave us a sense of what was going on even without going into lots of detail, and was a great way to get them over to Cali for Melody's funeral. I can't say I think she died for nothing since she helped bring Kent down, even if it's terrible that she had to pay such a price.
Good thing that Trudy showed up and knew what was going on. Helped the case against Kent for sure and Dean needed the info. I was worried that Kent might find and kill her. Very glad that wasn't the case! One casualty's enough. ;-;
Loved that Dean went into the duct for Sam! Especially since you write in the same universe and we all know how he is with the claustrophobia! Not when Sam's life is at stake, though. Aw, I love it. And the beginning when Dean wants Sam to take his gun... Lol. '...Not a werewolf.' 'That you know of.' Perfect. And the clean underwear! Ah, so awesome. Loved the banter between the three there as well. Really was the calm before the storm, hm? xD
I have to say, though, Sam really shoulda suspected about the phone call on his credit card... xD Nah, I really cannot blame him for that one bit. Especially since you know they were paranoid about it at some point... It's what happens when you're around people who know the real you. If Kent hadn't known his real name, he probably would have been alright. Well, for a little longer at least, lol.
Great touch at the end as well, with Sam reassuring Dean of his presence. I just love the stories at the start of the series instead of the ones later. Well, really just the show altogether. I just miss them. *sigh*

Oh I really liked this one. The action had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. But wow, this was a rough one for Sam from beginning to finish. It's a good thing Dean was around and Bobby was able to pull in some connections in time or they would have been in some serious trouble.

This story was really good. Intense with lots of good brotherly moments.
