The Assassin's Pen chapter 11 . 3/5/2015
This story is simply stunning. I discovered the game because I found that opening sequence so beautiful, and to see it from outside Jensen's wracked body was wonderful, especially when the writing was so clean and accurate. I am so happy this exists.

wow this was such a lovely fanfic! everything worked so smoothly and your writing was so perfect. all of the medical and augment jargon and the interactions between characters... this felt like canon to me. like a professional novelization! and, as such, i've accepted this as canon :D it's stories like these that make the game more meaningful, and visa versa. this will be one of my favorites from now on. thank you so much for writing such a lovely fic, even if it has been a while since you've finished it. :D

Danka chapter 9 . 1/16/2014
Finally caught up with your story and I can now say it's definitely one of the best in Deus Ex I have read so far.
I really love the precision with which you describe technical and medical topics, but still manage to blend them into the story. I like the opposition of Sarif and Dr. Marcovic, Sarif pushing forward and just rushing past all doubts and Dr. Marcovic forcing him to see what he's actually doing. And I think the way you write Jensen is really good. It seems like he's pretty much in denial of what happened to him still, focusing only on what lies ahead, thinking there'll be some time to fix everything later. It seems like a realistic reaction to me.

dsfsadfasdf chapter 8 . 12/19/2013
Interesting choice to wake Adam up for this chapter so we can see how he feels and stuff, heart-wrenching as it is. ;_; And it's also interesting you mention memory erasure, that's one neural aug I can't believe the game never brought up!
dsfsadfasdf chapter 7 . 12/11/2013
Another great chapter!
sdfsafasdf chapter 6 . 11/19/2013
Aww yes, an update! A very emotional one, too. Adam calling out for Megan, that's heart-breaking. :,(

This is amazing. I love it.
dsfsadfasdf chapter 2 . 8/12/2013
Yes this is awesome. You really captured the tension of someone hanging between life and death, and needing to put a whole bunch of metal and electronics in his body.
Danka chapter 2 . 8/1/2013
No reviews yet? Let's change that!

I read the two chapters a few times already and I love them. You found the perfect mix of accurate description (which is important in this medical environment) and the fast pace the situation (Jensen's life hanging on a thread) demands so your reader can imagine everything that's going on but still experiences the rush of events and the pressure the characters are put under. Speaking of which, I'd also like to say that I love how your write Vera Marcovic (you don't see that much of her in the game but I think this is how she might be) and David Sarif. He seems to feel genuine affection for Jensen and isn't willing to let him die, but I can also see a hint of his intentions that might be not so altruistic.
The sentences you included from the opening credits reminded me of the video and added perfectly to the whole atmosphere.

I only have one thing to criticise: If Jensen's heart has stopped already, wouldn't it be impossible to bring him back with a defibrillator? I learned that they are only useful if there's ventricular fibrillation, to get the (still beating) heart to beat regulary again with an electric shock and that in case of no heartbeat, you should perform CPR. I'm not an expert on that stuff, though, I've only learned the basics during first-aid training, so if you have more experience in that matter, please do correct me :).

On a side note, there's a small typo in Jensen's name ("They'd picked the right room for Jenson.") near the end of the first chapter.

Once again, I loved it. Perfectly balanced and well-written!
