My problems with how authors handle chakra control aside, the idea for the story is very interesting. The only other issue I can see if words; you use the wrong words in certain situations. Waste, not waist. Torture, not torcher... there are a few others I can’t remember.

Yay, another story that completely botches the concept of chakra control. Why does he need a certain level of chakra control to be able to use certain techniques? For instance, he could have learnt to rotate kunai, which is considered jōnin level chakra control, before even learning to balance the leaf on his forehead. Actually, if he can’t do illusions, can it really be considered him having jōnin level chakra control? I get that larger reserves are harder to control, but while they are harder to reach for him the milestones are still the same as everyone else’s, so him needing to have ‘perfect’ control to do things that genin can do seems a bit ridiculous. It always just feels like a cheap excuse to make Naruto not seem like a Gary Stu, despite the fact that his canonical character SHOULD be one (with the number of clones he can make and the demonic healing factor, he should be more advanced than most older ninja with a physical prowess that not even Gai could match).

My point is that it’s not a game. You don’t always need to unlock one perk to have access to others unless they are directly related and, in the case of chakra exercises and ninja techniques, they’re not directly related because the chakra is being used differently in each thing. The rasengan is a perfect example in canon... he mastered the ‘pinnacle of chakra control and manipulation’ but he was still unable to use illusionary or medical techniques... how? Simple, because he learnt that specific way of controlling and manipulating chakra. If he put a couple days or weeks into medical techniques he could learn them too, even without learning any of the chakra control exercises.

This was hilarious. The story is well written, but you really have to suspend your disbelief a bit. For myself...my head canon says -the earth/grudge/fear affects the host, and makes them think it's not a big deal to want hearts.
