Love that you've decided to continue beyond the epilogue! PLS update!

I just finished rereading this story after a couple of years in a day and I just wanted to say that I was still shocked by all the twists and the ending was as bittersweet the second time around. I loved Rochelle's interesting point of view; you did a great job on this story. Thank you so much for posting this!

I just read all of this in a day. Truly hope that at some point you'll update more. There were definite ups and downs, but the point is that it made me feel something, whether Glee or anger or frustration.

POSITIVE:
Hi i really love rochelle's relationship with her family and with lucius so far and how they care and show their love for each other in their own slytherin ways. It gives me a possible and acceptable perspective of how a pureblooded slytherin family could show affection and love for their own. I like your OCs esp rochelle, youve written her with the intelligence and practicality of a true slytherin and still managed to make a good character out of her without being ooc from a pureblood slytherin.

NEGATIVE:
However Im afraid those are the only things i liked about this fic. I definitely couldnt accept sirius here. He was too pushy on the rebel against the family issue of rochelle and how you wrote him made me think every now and then that he was doing all that talk for himself rather than for her. I just couldnt feel the genuineness. I think you lack in writing the foundation of sirius in your story like what role he really portrays here. And everything about rochelle and sirius' relationship feels rushed. The only time i managed to like the both of them together was when they were arguin about sirius' supposed disgust of rochelle's family loyalty, that was intense yet realistic! Wish i couldve read more of that before theyve engaged into romance.

I like james and lily but the start of their romantic relationship here also felt rushed. And with james, i particularly didnt feel his fun, dramatically loud, supportive friend vibe which basically gives life to a marauder fanfic. Tho i believe the story will get better in the next chapters, im finishing my reading at ch 30...

Why is Rochelle even staying away from Sirius? Eventually the Death Eaters were gonna target her anyway and at some point in time her father was going to slip up because he is not a Death Eater by a curious question.

I love this chapter because it shows the kind of loyalty that slytherins exhibit. Lucius protected Rochelle even though their relationship is tense and he’s “loyal” to Voldemort. They can be selfish, but they’ll do whatever they can to protect those close to them!

As much as I wished she left, I would do the exact same thing. It sucks that Sirius gets his heart broken, but I can see why she prioritizes her family’s safety over that.

At the end of the chapter:
Me: Ho don’t do it
Rochelledoes it*
Me: WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DO THIS TO MY HEART
WHAT ABOUT SIRIUS
My rational mind: actually that makes senseshe right, Sirius ain’t gon die (only of heartbreak)
But fuuuuuuck, man, the angst is really hitting me hard on this one, it’s stingin’ real bad, let me tell you.
It’s like, there’s different types of angst. There’s angst as a result of circumstances out of your control (things that just HAPPEN to you) and angst as a result of things you DO have control over, regardless of whether the choice is horrendously difficult or not.
The second one hurts so much more, because then you really start thinking about what ifs. And the guilt and other emotional baggage that just doesn’t come with the first one is so much more intense.
Also because you’re not sure you’ll be forgiven in the end.
I have to stop depressing myself even more.

I have to say this...I have completed it within...two days,this is the first book I have finished I have read lots and lots of sirius stories...but this by far is the best,this book was soooo beautifully written and it made me laugh..and cry a whole lot...but it was all worth it...its my favourite story so far and ..ur writing skills are amazing...I'll recommend this book to all my friends...

I know you’ve finished this a long time ago. But I just spent the whole day reading this and I have to let you know that it’s everything I could have wished for in a Sirius/OC fic. I’m going to have a hard time reading other ones without comparing it to this. Great job! I hope you continued writing after this. You have a lot of talent that shouldn’t go to waste!

I know you posted this story years ago, and I’m not sure if you’re even checking reviews on it anymore, but I find your writing strikes an excellent balance. The whole concept of turning against one’s family is challenging, and you’ve done an excellent job of exploring the layers of family ties and the conflict between those relationships versus ideology. Great job; I can’t wait to finish reading what you have created. L.

I just read the reviwes you mentioned about for the past few chapters and how angry they were with your decision in Rochelle's character.

Although, I also do not enjoy Rochelle's choice, I sort of get the pressure she's been through and why she made her decision.

However, I cannot fully understand it either. I cannot say I speak for all disappointed readers, but I'll give you insight on why some of us don't like that she chose to stay. Please, hear me out?

Some kids don't have a close relationship with their families, no matter what. Sometimes it has to do with political beliefs, some with religious beliefs, or homophobic beliefs, you name it. I am one of those people who just, never felt much of a connection with my family, because of race. I'll admit, I kept getting increasingly happier whenever Rochelle kept taking small steps away from her family, and finally, I thought she was brave enough to leave. And it probably disappointed a ton of us when we also felt betrayed by her character, we thought we could connect with her. But when her father stepped in to tell her his story, I could also understand why she stayed.

However, I don't understand why she decided to marry Lestrange? As an author (and please don't rewrite the story unless you truly feel like it), and hope you are open to constructive criticism, I'd suggest, since Rochelle is a Slytherin, you could've written out a plot where she promised to help her family as much as possible, but could come up with a way, I don't know, possibly with blackmail or a deal to go with it without marrying Lestrange.

Remember again, Rochelle is a Slytherin, and Slytherin's are known to do whatever it takes to benefit themselves.
