In this chapter you perfectly described what has Rhaegar accomplished (seven kingdoms as an artificial structure held together by merest shimmer of unity) during his rule : absolutely nothing. He may have won battle at Trident, but his absolutely incompetent handling of that victory and aftermath of it means that Trident was pyrrhic victory for Rhaegar for all chances of having either North, Vale or Riverlands loyal to him was lost. His political decision of keeping Robb as hostage may seem wise in short terms, but in long terms he just managed to make North and Riverlands his bitter enemies which will fight for him only under duress and when that duress is removed (once Robb is released) that will not wait even a single second to declare either complete independence from him (with Vale probably joining them) or they might try (and who says they are not doing it already) to secretly form coalition with Westerlands (which no doubt feels scorned Rhaegar - with his foolish decision to marry Lyanna, which by the end of war was absolutely imb****c move as Lyanna brought him nothing- she is probably hated in the Vale, North and Riverlands as much as Rhaegar) and Dorne (which would no doubt try and place their own dragon on the throne). His only potential ally is Reach but even that is not completely sure.

I admit I am a Rhaegar and Lyanna shipper. That said I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. It is realistic in showing that the world in not only blue roses and that love can not overcome it all. I all anxious hoping that you will update this soon. Even if they can not end up together its a faithful telling of their story.

I love this story and the focus on the Dorn characters and their revenge. It's hard to respect Rhager and Lyanna, so I 'can't wait to see what happens next!
