This is beautiful! You captured Loke's helplessness during that time really well and I love Gray's and Fairy Tail's role in his life. Thank you for writing this!

It was beautifully written, and at least to me, original - I've never read a Loke-centric fic before. (Is it LoLu? No? I don't feel like it's about any pairing at all.)

Karen's tormenting was haunting and his relationship with Gray was just too cute. There's a lot happening here - it's a really, really nice way of encompassing Loke's entire past, present, and possibilities for the future.

I like how you had us follow Loke from his first impression of Fairy Tail, to the passing years, and then following it up with Lucy's appearance. I could imagine it so well. How he's fading away, making promises he can't keep, Gray's underlying hopelessness - but not really hopeless, unlike Loke, and Karen's haunting.
I thought I was going to read about Loke making the alternate choice, to die instead of live as Lucy's spirit, and I have to say I'm glad it wasn't the case.

Personally I love Loke, since his whole arc happened he became one of my favorite characters despite his now sparse appearances. I think you captured the emotional part extremely well. The characterization was on target as well.

Ah, Kairaita, neat as always. Usually I read a story twice, the second time being when I scrutinize for technical errors, but this was much too painful to read. I’m particularly enjoying this challenge round. Everyone seems to have stepped up their game and channelled raw emotion into their entries, and you are no exception.

I’m a bit miffed that I have nothing to gripe about at all (boo, I feel useless). However, I am a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due, so excuse me for drowning you in it in 3…2…1…

I’ve always wanted to read a story that delved into Leo not just as a hot male, nor as just half of a ship, but as the character himself. There’s a lot of stuff in his past that is particularly traumatic. I liked how you dug into his origins, his shift from Blue Pegasus to Lamia Scale, and how he came to know each of the members. Particularly, Gray Fullbuster. You’ve managed to catapult them into my top two BroTPs (they used to be third).
Your portrayal of Loke alone was worthy of applause. You captured his guilt, and slow, albeit bitter, acceptance of his coming fate.

And then his beacon of hope comes shining through.

The thing that’s really special about you story is that not only does it portray, but it evokes. Something is stirred inside the reader that makes them feel as your characters do, and the atmosphere of the story becomes the air around them, whether they’re lying in bed or reading from their phone on a park bench.

To cap it all off, this entry was the very essence of angst –torturous to read, beautiful, and poignant. Not forgetting, of course, the cherry on top; the shimmer of hope that everything will turn out alright in the end.

Loke used to be my favorite character, but as time went by, other characters took his place... Until I read your fanfic. It was a very good surprise, something about that character who is had his development a few arcs ago but who is not that apparent anymore right now (which is quite normal considering the number of side characters in Fairy Tail). Anyway, your fic reminded me of what made him so special, and I have to say you managed to use the bits of information we have about him and developed them to add those parts that perfectly fit in his story.

I also liked the fact that you didn't forget about the promise he had made, the promise to be Gray's partner (I was actually dying to know what happened to make them so close whenever we saw them together in the Tenrou Island arc). As far as I know about those two, the description of their relationship was greatly done, whithout making Gray realize Loke is a spirit since he couldn't know about that. And the way he sees the rest of the guild was really touching

All in all, thanks for that great entry, once again I'm glad I read a fanfiction about him, especially when it doesn't necessarily include romance!

Yay! A decent Loke non-sexually related fic! A pleasure to read. Nice little examination of his character. Liked the bits with Gray in it, that would have been nice to extend, but that also might have been because there was some dialogue. Anyway. Good dialogue. Got a fair bit more characterisation that way.
