LalalandMuse chapter 1 . 9/12/2013
I noticed this story had no reviews, but it really should. The way you wrote it offered a new perspective on 9/11, combining the viewpoint of a nation, but also of a human, Alfred F. Jones. The narration of how normal his day had been before the attack is so much like what everyone else experienced-normalcy, walking to work, getting coffee. No one saw what was coming. The line that caught me the most was America's brief description of his own people falling, which has always been one of the most horrific parts of 9/11 for me. And the last line, "I'm still paying for it" is so sad but so true. We're much stronger than before 9/11, through technicalities like airport security, and also in emotional ways like our renewed patriotism, all the flags seen across the nation today, but 9/11 caused a permanent scar in the heart of Americans and I can only hope nothing like it will happen again, but if it does, we'll be prepared. Sorry for rambling, I just wanted to get my thoughts out and I really liked your piece.
