the monsters of rwby get by with one weapon just fine. the redundancy of throwing knives and multiple swords is just silly and doesn't make for a bad ass it comes across chunni
GreatZero chapter 21 . 9/5/2016
I think i'll reread this and the others.

Also why is it everyone complains about Volume 3? it was great. and lets not forget that Monty was around long enough to have planned it. and he already had every major plot point to volume ten or so if it gets that far. do you really think it would be derailed that easily?

It's not how Rwby goes that pisses me off. It's that people say "thats wasn't Monty's plan, They're ruining everything". we can't say if its how he wanted it or not because we don't know.

Don't like it? then stop watching. simple

Vacuo, the country in the west is Vacuo, Vale is in the middle, Atlas is in the North, Mistral is in the east, and Vacuo is to the west.
Feng Lengshun chapter 21 . 9/4/2016
Eh, I never really felt that Monty can do great narratives. He can do cool stuffs, and that's it. His fight scenes are cool, though personally I feel that they are more style than substance (though in the case of RWBY I guess you can say that style IS substance, and if so then he IS doing a magnificent job at it). Honestly, he felt like Tite Kubo for me. They even has the same fashion sense. The thing that annoys me the most is that just because he died, it somehow means that Rooster Teeth must follow his plans to the letter. Yeah, no. I mean no disrespect to the man - because he is a magnificent person from what I've read and heard - but if he wrote shit, then I'd rather they changed it up. Assuming he even write much of things in detail anyway - he probably only gave some thin outlines, and without clear directions to reach the goal, what can they do but improvise?

Also, I was really getting bored with all the previous seasons. I'm glad that Season 3 was able to really shake things up. I am personally not completely satisfied with it (looks at the Deus ex Machina at the end with Ruby) but it's finally become something genuinely interesting instead of something I watch because it was popular, the fight scene was kind of cool, and because it was free. It became something I would have actually paid for to watch. And that's the most important thing when making a product.

And for heaven's sake, Cinder isn't the Mary Sue. It's Ruby. Cinder had to plan things through, didn't always succeed at what she's doing, and only almost win because she took things slow, builds a good plan, and adapts well to the situation. She puts a LOT of efforts into her plans. Aaaaaand Ruby defeated her and saved the day due to some poorly built-up Deus ex Machina. I don't think that Cinder is an interesting or even good villain, or even a good character, but as far as villain goes, she's functional. She's menacing and competent, a great obstacle for the protagonists. Just that the main character's lagging in comparison - heroes and villains are part of one dance, and if one partner is lagging, then the dance will be ruined. Although Cinder isn't the most excellent of villain she's at least functional and nowhere near as bullshit as Ruby.

Also, really? The Gamer? God, that's beyond overdone. But maybe I'll check it out... I'm just hoping to god that it'll be more interesting than The Games We Play.

IWEYC chapter 21 . 9/2/2016
Holy, fucking, shit. Yes! This probably balances out almost half of the bad feels that starting school has given me - thank you for that. I look forward to the rewrite, sir!

Though, I may just be speaking for my hate towards Pyrhha, but I believe it was planned on the beggining that she would die. Wether is was by Cinder's hand or not, I can't tell. She was perfect, all the way up to the point where the only problem was that she seemd to be TOO perfect by everyone around her. She was strong, she was powerful, and she had a reputation known by thousands of others; and what do you think people would think if they found out the 'invincible girl' wasn't so invincible anymore.

They'd start to consider the real threat as more of an actual threat, and it would be a sort of wake-up call towards the main cast of RWBY, that even the strongest of them all can fall jist as easily as anyone else.

Like a character destined to die fro, the start.

That's just my opinion though.

ThatOneGuy chapter 21 . 9/2/2016
Gotta disagree with your rant about RWBY canon. I have no doubt that everything that's happening is just how Monty planned it. Cinder was designed from the beginning to be an unstoppable juggernaut of a villain, or do you not remember the first episode where she was blocking .50cal bullets like they were spitballs, and matching Goodwitch in terms of power? And then there was Season 2, where she seemed to be the smartest person in the room wherever she showed up. That was all Monty's doing, and it led up to Season 3.

As for Pyrrha, note that Monty said the MAIN CAST. Pyrrha is not a part of that, nor was she ever. She has next to no backstory and the most character development she ever got was her speech to Jaune during the dance. The Season 2 OST song "Dream Come True" tells you more about Pyrrha and her feelings than the entirety of her time on-screen. Despite how much people love her, myself included, her only real purpose in the series was to strengthen Jaune. Sad, but true. Even Pyrrha's voice actress flatout said that she was told, by Monty, that the character was going to die when she signed on. And when you think about who she's based on, Achilles, her death was inevitable; that legend doesn't have a happy ending.

If the theme continues, Jaune's probably going to get burned alive while fighting Cinder, too, since Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.
