Beautiful, beautiful one-shot - hot and sad and stunningly in-character. I love the parallels you draw. Spike's thoughts about washing her off himself because *she* would want him to... that made me tear up. I now want to box both their ears and shout: "Love each other, you fools! Darn it!"
Anyhow, I hope you can tell I loved this little piece. A well-earned 'favorite'.
