LovelyLadyAllie chapter 5 . 5/22/2019
These were fabulous! I adore one shots that fill in blanks from the movies. The dancing one is by far my favorite and it adds so much depth to that scene!

This is a beautiful, beautiful story! What I especially find interesting is the very detailed and believable backstory of the Prince. And I agree with how the movie didn't really touch on their emotions or expressiveness as much as it did on the dance. I'd like to see the video of the Cruise Line's version of the BatB musical! Also, congrats on submitting your novel to Kindle!

Always excited to see an update to this story. :) The image of the prince, as a child, dancing with his mom was really sweet. And I love how you filled in some of the gaps in the movie, but also managed to add some depth to the things that we did get to see. For instance, I really liked that the prince's relationship with his mom helped him to empathize in the moment where he realized how much Belle must miss her father. It made that scene a lot more poignant for me.

And congratulations on your book being published! It is going directly to the top of my to-read list!
The Green Archer chapter 5 . 7/2/2018
I always enjoy these little thematic expansions you bring to the movies, without making them sound like word-for-word retellings of the source material. The Prince’s desire to connect with someone through dance really helps to humanize his character, and better understand why he may have been hosting that ball at the beginning of the movie. Also, kudos to you for making the ballroom dance way more emotional than it was in the live action film (yes, I am one of those people who often likes to complain about Dan and Emma having no facial expressions for the entire thing). I like how you added the part where Belle leans her head against the Beast’s chest from the 1991 film, too!

Belle assuming Mrs. Potts was describing the Prince in a figurative sense is an interesting idea, though I have to wonder if the portraits around the castle would be evidence enough that she was telling the truth. Unless the spell tampered with Belle’s memory, so she kept forgetting he really used to be human every time the subject came up? Am I overthinking this?

Congratulations on your first book publication! I probably won’t get around to reading it for another month or so, but the preview looks very promising from what I’ve seen so far. I hope you get a lot of readers because you definitely deserve it!
CarolNJoy chapter 5 . 7/2/2018
I don't know why I haven't read any of these before, but I know that in the recent line of BatB fanfiction, it was nice to see a story updated by a familiar face!

I really like how you portrayed the Beast in these. The details you elaborated on made sense to the story, and gave reasoning behind his behavior. In the second chapter for example, that was a really interesting take on the curse, having the Enchantress add that stipulation! I always love when you take those points from original fairytales and incorporate them into the Disney-verse. Same for the fifth chapter, where you gave him a reason to be throwing lavish parties. Very well done!

Congratulations on your book! I checked it out on Amazon, and the premise sounds fantastic. I'll need to look into when I have the chance!

Beautiful.
Now you’ve made me want to find that YouTube video.
I have somewhat complicated feelings for BatB because I have always liked it, but have recently grown a little uncomfortable with the elements that cause many people to now dismiss it as a “Stockholm Syndrome” story. But this retelling is lovely.

I’ll put Poppies and Roses on my TBR list.
Hathor-Aroha chapter 4 . 8/16/2017
Oh my gosh, I'm going to repeat myself again, but I LOVE THIS. And I agree with your author's note as well-the transformation scene doesn't get me quite the same way in the live action as the animated one does. I've seen comments before elsewhere where others lamented that Belle didn't say "It IS you!" I really love that you put that little extra part in to make the live action transformation that much more affecting and touching.
Hathor-Aroha chapter 3 . 8/16/2017
Oh, this is so romantic and beautiful, showing a small, intimate moment between a long-time couple. I love how you address how the prince felt about smiling, still expecting the same flinching reactions even though he was no longer a Beast. It's certainly realistic that it would take him a long time to readjust to being human again, especially after so long as a Beast. This chapter certainly had me melt!
Hathor-Aroha chapter 2 . 8/16/2017
I love the way you put a different interpretation on the Enchantress, with using the idea of the Fay. And you're right, in old fairy tales and so on, it is very common to see harsh punishments inflicted upon people who did not offer the disguised witch/fairy/what-have-you a place to stay. While this chapter was shorter than usual, it still conveyed an intensity within it that kept me reading from start to finish.
Hathor-Aroha chapter 1 . 8/16/2017
This chapter is absolutely gorgeous and I love every bit of it! Your impeccable gift for the written word shines through, and I love how you wrote Lumiere as well-VERY in character!
Anna chapter 4 . 4/1/2017
I like your story!
HawkDramione chapter 4 . 3/21/2017
Damn. I just watched the movie yesterday. I agree with you that the relief part wasn't as good as in the animated version, but other than that I couldn't think of anything else to complain about.
One particular thing that I find the adaption did do better than the animated version is the part where they traveled to Paris. It explained why Belle was originally different from the provincial life in the village, and in a way it connected Belle and Beast together, as two orphans who have lost mothers at a very young age. And the part when she said "Let's go home." I cried during that part, and even now I am still crying over how beautiful that was.

Liked your story.
greensearcher chapter 3 . 3/19/2017
Aaaah this was so incredibly sweet. And hot, not gonna lie :) Love it!
greensearcher chapter 2 . 3/19/2017
Cool interpretation. This is such a neat way to explain what happened! And makes him letting her go all the more tragic and selfless. Love it.
