There is so much depth in the concept of death. It's so permanent, has so many aspects. Your death is not your own but somebody eles that's gotta live with it. Changes so much. In short, death might not be favourable but it's definitely worth discussing.
I am usually not fond reading of death fics. Because those writers ain't able to catch and pin the points that really matters. They find that making the ultimate sacrifices are acts of selflessness. But I do agree/think Sherlock was selfish. We all become selfish when we love (either platonically or romantically).
Did reading it torn my heart in tiny little pieces ? Yes. Would I have it any other way ? No.
Conclusion: You, my dear, were PERFECT !

A good and proper death fic. I like how you make Sherlock's last act selfish, because that kind of selfishness, toward John, is the only kind he's capable of. Good pain. Only death fic I like.
