Reviews for Secret Thoughts
icecatfire chapter 3 . 7/17/2018
*Winces* I feel for Harry when they read the spanking chapters. *Embarrassed FOR Harry and Sirius and any others who get spanked/is doing the spanking*
excessivelyperky chapter 4 . 3/10/2017
I think that most of Snape's anger is that Sirius and Remus and Harry are always rescued, but that he never was and never will be.

But Remus and Sirius sound like they will keep Harry away from the Dursleys (though they will likely teach him about all the fun they had with ‘Snivellus’).
excessivelyperky chapter 3 . 10/22/2016
I’m quite sure that Snape is going to speak to Dumbledore about ignoring the reports that Mrs. Figg sent, and that he won’t get anything but lemon drops and it was for the Greater Good. But this time McGonagall might actually be upset, too. Still, Albus will walk just like he always does.

Though I find it difficult to believe that Sirius Black would react badly to any prank Harry pulls, especially if it puts Snape into the infirmary.
icecatfire chapter 4 . 7/15/2016
something tells me dumbledore's opinion towards his other self is gonna get WORSE. and i sadly can't blame him. though remus is overreacting a bit harry and him were close as uncle and nephew when he was a baby, so why SHOULDN'T harry be like his nephew? and other remus is just getting a bit angry, though i won't blame him when he finds out what his other self did in later chapters when he grabbed harry in anger,. though his other self just lost control for a sec and right after.
moodysavage chapter 4 . 5/22/2016
Another interesting abandoned story... so frustrating.
excessivelyperky chapter 2 . 4/26/2016
Another good chapter. I was surprised to find out that Sirius Black regretted anything he'd done to Snape, given that in OotP that he only regretted not finishing Snape off, and had tried to do so in PoA. But this is clearly AU and all that. Frankly, I always thought Sirius was rather happy at splitting up Severus and Lily from everything I saw.

I like Molly's attitude. But I'm sure Albus will beat her over the head with some lemon drops till she's smiling and agreeable again-people tend to end up like that if they argue with Dumbledore. Glad to hear about the charms protecting Harry on the doorstep, though-what a pity they weren't in canon.

It is really nice to see Lupin telling the truth for a change (though as ever, he never tells all of it).

Poor Harry, nobody tells him anything...
excessivelyperky chapter 1 . 4/26/2016
Oh, Sirius shouldn't worry that it's been too long since he tried to prank someone-surely trying to kill an unconscious Snape in PoA in the tunnel to the Shack ought to count.

And frankly, Harry was a prat that first day in Potions Class, but of course we're not going to hear anything of the sort, because I'm sure Snape will be slapped around the way he usually is in these Read The Books type stories. Besides, once Snape finds out about the Dursleys, he'll be too busy thinking of ways to strangle Tuney et al.

As ever, the Headmaster is thinking much too hard about the Greater Good to worry about anyone's actual comfort (save his own). I'm sure he'll see how he set up Snape to be loathed by the Order and wonder why he hadn't done it earlier.

Neat start.

Looking forward to the next chapters, I really like your characterisation so far. good luck
liliCartMan chapter 3 . 5/18/2014
"the little baby boy..." seeing Sirius being so lovely and promising to pamper Harry, has a certain effect:
1) obviosuly harry tells him to shut up, ah well, he's not a child anymore!
2) we can see how Sirius love Hary, even if his way to show it is a little exaggerated and "theatrical"
3) I could wonder what example Sirius would be if he had raised Harry: would he teach him to hate and torment anyone wasn't a Gryffindor, as Sirius&co. did at school?! ARGH I hope he wouldn't... eh Snape is not completely wrong in telling Sirius "do you want spare punishments for ANYTHING? you risk to make a spoiled brat and a bully like his father"
Dumbledore can be as wise and clever as you want, but to me he's always a manipulator that chose a too high price to protect Harry (the worst one was not informing Harry about the prophecy)
And Snape is right in reminding Dumbledore that "being a relative is not a guarantee of love"! and McGonagall too in telling him "treating Harry well had made Dursley suspicious, but that wasn't an excuse to let Harry be abused" Harry can be a good people, because he doesn't tell anyone his own things, but abuse is abuse, and can't be ignored.
At least Snape too has a brain to tell to feel sympathy for an abused and bullied boy that is not the brat Snape thought (especially considering that Snape had a unhappy childhood too and that in the FF you use Harry suffered even more... who knows if Snape knows that if there's someone similar to James, it's both Dudley and Malfoy...
Ron comparing Dudley to Malfoy, a good point that makes him appear clever in a way that most of the books don't do, a little unfairly to me: in 2nd one he explains the matter of Halfblood and clearing the prejudices about it, earning a moment in which Hermione's not the only one in explaining Harry something about magic; and he is clever in understanding Lockhart's false appearance of expert teacher, as Harry does and Hermione doesn't.
Bullying, ah! :( and Snape reminds us that many people are amused by bullying, even if not being victims or bullies: conspiracy of silence was the one who lead Sirius to the idiot idea of Whomping Willow, to me! and comparing Harry to James or Lily (in good and bad things) is not helpful (especially to Snape) and Sirius could avoid sending Snape F... he himself did something awful about unleashing the wolf!
Sirius' fault... uhm meaning that Sirius is believed to be the traitor yet, or meaning that if Snape lost Lily's friendship it was the Marauders' fault too? (and I can't disagree completely with Snape...)

"Guys not now" and "Harry-blloody-Potter" (uh, as if Harry boasted to be what people think about him! -_-) eh Bill's right, actually the twins sometimes are insolent in their humor sense, (but nobody beats Marauders, Malfoy&co!) it reminds me Mrs. Weasley who told the "Don't tease Ron for his nightmare, it could be really a serious thing that torments him" in the time travel HP fic
liliCartMan chapter 2 . 5/17/2014
the twins can't help crying out -_- ah , canon I suppose,, and I react as Harry would, maybe, "oh, I see it, be calm!"
"in that universe his friends hadn't set him straight yet?" meaning that they had not managed to explain him why Dumbledore had kept them from Harry (summer at the beginning of 5th book)?
but eh, the main thing is Dumbledore knowing what price his decision had, and Lupin being clever enough to confess that it's his and his friends' fault too if Snape lost Lily and has his attitude towards Harry (and all the Gryffindors? consider all the excuses he has to take points from Gryffindors, here too...) even if mmmh... there's already the detail that Lupin realized it so late, as much as Snape did! Ah if poor Harry knew what Marauders were, I can't wait to see his reaction when he discovers something, by the book or from Sirius or Lupin!
Snape's already suspecting that Harry was not so bad as Snape thought (or at least, that he looked a bad boy, there's a reason) but covers it wondering "mah, maybe the boy's only melodramatic..." let's see when he reads next chapter!
"Petunia never changed" eh yes, and consider her jealousy too, that finally lead her to treat Harry badly! a realistic attitude, but anyway unfair, and doesn't justify her attitude towards Harry!
"A walrus and a giraffe with a horse-like face" heheh so it could be said :D think I once read an Italian FF where 16 years old Marauders and Lily read 3rd book, and at 2nd chapter they commented Dudley's appearance
LILY Uhm, he could look like a pig and a horse together
REMUS Maybe I can understand the pug, but what about the horse?
LILY My sister (all them laughing)

"I can guess what secret can be the Dursely's one" but if Snape's not speaking about Lily, what is it? did I miss anything? and , so, why do McGonagall and Sirius react in that way? and I could tell that Sirius' bad secret are not the Malfoy, but his parents too, to me they could have kept him as a secret considering he didn't share their ideas on Slytherin and pure blood (but unfortunately he learnt from them to treat badly who was different from him, Slytherin in his case!)

The idea of "Perfectly boring" reflects a Pureblood's thought, being he used to magic and then hardly understanding the Mggles' way of life, doesn't it? Actually it's strange that Hermione calls "boring" a wizard teacher's work, or maybe she's telling ironically "so, whoever's not a housewife or sells drills is bad, or is it an excuse to hate wizards?"
and maybe the Dursleys' attitude (beginning from spoiling Dudley in this chapter!) won't do but increase a Pureblood's prejudices towards Muggles, as the Hufflepuff in 2nd book says about Harry ("He's a Parseltongue, what if he actually was an even worse Dark Lord than You-Know-who?" "I heard you hate your Muggle wards, Harry"). And speaking of this, yes, can seem strange for being interested in Muggles, but he's not: it would as if a doctor was interested in which method an African witchdoctor uses to treat successfully a disease. An example is the idea of a sort of worm, Dracunculus medinensis: we take it larvae drinking water, the larva goes in intestine and then in blood, and the adult worm breaks the skin of feet and releases its eggs in water; we can use a drug against this worm, but actually the only successful way to treat this is pulling the worm slowly out of the wound, by a stick, a method that it could be cal primitive but is the only successful one, and is always used in the countries where the worm lives.

A chapter full of interesting elements, that leads me in seeing how much your fics speak of prejudices: Never give in (Valour, Blackararachnia), A slave to love (Darklight towards Echo, ivory towards other Femmes), The willow (yes, I read it, I'm only too lazy to leave a good review!): so, they sound serious and therefore interesting!
See you in next chapter

kn chapter 4 . 3/30/2014
have you ever tried to post dialogue after a character's actions? It seams a little off putting to have all the dialogue on the left side of the page. It's an interesting story but not really something I will check for updates on. Hope your writing continues too improve though!
