zekses chapter 1 . 6/29/2018
It's an interesting way to retell those events. Isn't all that greatly executed but nevertheless fun read.
Tendragos chapter 1 . 10/19/2017
I'd love to see a second chapter or story along this vein. Something where E-E, Voyager, Defiant and a number of other ships on defense against a significant enemy fleet, with the enemy deploying a weapon that stuns/knocks out all the crews. This would spur the ships to begin piloting themselves to protect their crews. You could do something with the personalities of the older ships are even more protective crews. I would imagine Data's reaction would be entertaining as the ships start to move with only him and the EMHs. I imagine Voyager spreading out her EHM's EMCH program would be more than a little hilarious. You could have damaged ships beaming their entire crews onto whichever ship's speed and engines were the best, and having themselves warp themselves out of harms way.

For personalities, I can imagine E-E being a bit unsure of herself, the Akira ships having a short guy complex, Nebula being nerds, older ships having a wide array of personalities, grudges and quirks. The Defiant being a warrior through and through, maybe protective of its crew to the extreme as a kind of PTSD from losing so many during the Dominion war. Voyager would have to be either a little crazy or quirky to the extreme. If I think about it, maybe a mad scientist since she was a science/exploration vessel to begin. I think she would have picked up all kinds of little bits of programming from her long, long journey. All the ships would probably pick up traits of their captains and crew, a Vulcan majority ship would be very different from Voyager or DS9. (Now that station would be a very weird personality with everything that has traveled through and her somewhat crazy crew.)

Would be entertaining to see the ships trading stories as if in a bar. I can see Voyager topping them with "So my captain gets the borg ship's shields down, and then, and then, snort, she beams a torpedo onboard! She was so mad when it blew up! She was trying to steal borg tech! Like what did she expect to happen with a torpedo!" If you really wanted to have some fun, throw in some Cardassian/Domian/Breen/Klingon/Herojun ships the Federation has salvaged/stolen/rebuilt and refitted. (Hey, if you have most of a ship just sitting there after a battle, might as well take it back to dock and use it yourself.) Those would probably be a little bipolar.

Anyway, thanks for writing this, I very much enjoyed it!
Ron the True Fan chapter 1 . 7/5/2015
GENIUS! Do them all! NX-01, 1701-A through B, Defiant, Voyager; every named ship! This is GENIUS!
Guest chapter 1 . 7/2/2013
A very weird yet very brilliant idea.

Hideout Writer chapter 1 . 3/21/2013
It has been my experience that Federation starships tend to carry a bit of their captain in their personality. I feel that Voyager would be a mother bear towards her crew, while the Defiant, with her Sovereign-sized warp core would be like a true fighter, resonating more with Worf and with Sisko, despite the fact that Sisko had a hand in most of the Defiant design.
I know nothing about Lakota, Centaur or Thunderchild, but going off of their names, Thunderchild would be a pint-sized Thor, and Centaur would be wise and aloof. I got nothing for Lakota, sorry.

And 'E'? Trust me, you've lived up to your name. You and your crew have done great things, as all Enterprises before have done. Kirk would never have pulled off half of what he managed without the Enterprise. Likewise, 'D' kept her crew safe despite having to go up against the Borg. I will say this once. You are 'The Big E'. You can do what few other can. You are the miracle ship, as all who had your name before you were. The name 'Enterprise' will go down in history, always adding to it's legacy. Will you eventually be phased out of service, and kept as a museum? Maybe, but unlikely. Would you want to be a museum? Voyager ended up that way, and she and her captain became as bitter as the coffee Janeway routinely drank. The other Enterprises passed on when they were overcome, and now they fight by your side. You will never be alone.

Keep your Chief Engineer safe,

AngelForm chapter 1 . 12/28/2011
Not bad.

Could have done with being a bit less... human in the thought process. Less feeling and more calculation, but without necessarily losing the emotion.

Perhaps take inspiration from Vathara’s Airwolf stories. They have an excellent AI perspective.
BlueEyedBrigadier chapter 1 . 9/22/2011
Well...can't say I ever imagined coming across this kind of story to be perfectly honest, but I think it makes all kinds of sense when one looks at how 24th century Federation technology is portrayed capabilities-wise.

I too think Enterprise would have a rather Buffy-esque personality, or maybe a more stable version of River Tam from "Firefly" if we keep on a Whedonverse track for finding a good female hero comparison to work with in describing Enterprise's presumed personality. I use River because you would have the technological equivalent of being a polymath combined with the ability to be supernaturally graceful while laying waste to opponents.

But Buffy works for the reasons you give: fearsome skill and and bravery masking moments of doubt and non-confidence when facing down enemies that scare the bejeesus out of anyone with semi-average intellect. And the knowledge that none of her predecessors got to retire to spaceship museums or be quietly disassembled for recycling after long years of service - that they went out in heat of battle while protecting the innocent? - is very much the same kind of thought that Slayers must have when considering those that came before and how the Slayer powers are passed on.

Fantastic work, Andrew! Would definitely love to see more :D
Runner19 chapter 1 . 1/5/2010
kick ass story
Lynthrocropia chapter 1 . 11/3/2008
What would the USS Titan sound like ?

are there really any male ships ?

I liked this. It makes sense. The ships have been able to talk the whole time.

In an episode of the Original series it explained that the ships computers are programmed on a planet full of women, who do give the ships a personality.

What does the E think of the Scimitar ?
Gullwhacker chapter 1 . 5/6/2008
Nicely written, even if I haven't seen any of Star Trek after First Contact. Reminds me a bit of One Piece, and the Going Merry.

This leaves me to wonder what the Enterprise-D's personality might have been like...
Jerry Unipeg chapter 1 . 9/20/2007
I LOVE THIS STORY! (*x5) I love Enterprise point of veiw.
MasterMenthe chapter 1 . 8/9/2007
*Sniff*

Well, look at that, I'm actually crying! Who could've thought that YOU could make someone like ME cry? Unbelieveable! (Or is that 'Inconceiveable'?)

And yet... it is true. You, Andrew Joshua Talon, are a far better writer than I originally gave you credit for. Thank you for letting me feel emotion. (It's best if you don't ask)

On a side note, I am sorry to say that I have not watched the Star-Trek series or movies in a long time, so I have few ideas for you.

One might wonder, why would a Star-Trek fan like me forget? Well, let's just say that this latest Startrek show called "Enterprise" REALLY turned me off of the series, and leave it at that.

Oh, I have an idea for Worf's ship (I forgot the name), and it goes like this:

The ship idolizes Worf! It's 'male' as far as ships go, and ever since Worf took command of it, the ship immediatly had a liking for Worf's attitude and respects him. Why, I leave to you.

There's the basic idea, do with it as you will!

q.thews chapter 1 . 6/11/2007
One f the best (short) thing i've read in the last months.

I don't know if StarFleet would let E go around if they'll know about her angry character.

I always depicted them (D and E) as sentient (at least a little) even if Data or LaForge haven't told us nothing about it but i always thought something more like a Vulcan mind for practical reason :-)

Ciao!
