Reviews for A Journey North
gabzep chapter 1 . 12/14/2018
Sad but beautiful story! She did most of the work of taking caring for Peeta and Prim but with help from fellow soldiers and friends.

Ellae chapter 16 . 9/9/2017
A moving story full of the classic hellishly frustrating, beautifully strong HG Katniss

I have to agree with the previous review. I enjoyed the story, but this didn't feel like an Everlark story. The couple had a connection, yes, but it wasn't a romantic one. In the end, it felt like she stayed more for Prim than Peeta. Maybe if they interacted a bit more? More than that, there was little to mark the characters in this story to the that of the original. I kept wondering if this was originally written for another fandom, especially since even the physical descriptions of the characters didn't match THG's descriptions (what was the purpose of giving Katniss and Gale hazel eyes and brown hair and Peeta and Prim green eyes?).

Katniss came off as a cold and callous brat, even before she experienced the trauma of war. Her belittling characterization of her sweetheart and talking about "corrupting" him, as if it were something to be proud of, was awful. I kept hoping she'd grow to be a better person by the end of the story, but she remains incredibly immature, risking pregnancy in a middle of a war, sweeping off with Prim the way she did. At least she didn't rape Peeta, like the Katniss in "Bliss".

Nice story, but I didn't really care for Katniss in this. Her jumping into bed whenever things got bad seemed out of place in the story. It didn't add anything and didn't ring true; it felt more like she was just bored and didn't care if she was hurting anyone, and it really felt wrong with Peeta being underage and so vulnerable at that moment. I also think their relationship could've developed better. I mostly saw Katniss getting attached to Prim; her relationship with Peeta seemed to cone out of nowhere (and I am unabashedly Everlark). I guess the characters didn't feel very much like Peeta and Katniss to me. So, I'd say it has potential, but it needs some work.

She is nothing but a brat. I would love to smack her.

This was different. The commitment was so implied it only took that last word to seal it.

Wow! This story is beyond perfect. You did great with this. I just hope that there's an epilogue or something, but the way it ends is just perfectly fine. Thank you for making this amazing story. I will not forget how good this is, and maybe it is my favorite Everlark fanfic of all.

Dude, you write the BEST stories. I read one of them and decided I liked it so much I had to read everything you had written, but looking through your profile I realized that I had already read and loved like half of them! Your writing is simple but incredibly emotional in its simplicity, it goes beyond fanfiction.

Keep writing! And thank you for your efforts, they made my day.

Wishing there was more to this story. But you did leave it at a nice ending.

Winter Aquamarine chapter 16 . 7/28/2014
I've never read a story that talked about the people on the fringes of the war. I like your stories because they are not about the perfect people, but imperfect people that find what's perfect for them.

I wonder why you had Katniss sleep with a member of her group though. What did that add to the story? Sweeny and Peeta I get. But why the other guy?
