i love that he knows james so well - and loves him well enough to support his thing for lily, rather than being jealous. i kind of wish he'd have gotten a little romance, but... i also like him devoted to the potters, too...
i love that lily knows and understands james & sirius, too - that james can joke sirius is the love of his life, and it doesn't matter to any of them. b/c it's also true, in a different way...

Oh, yes, the love story between James and Sirius is sometimes more intense than between James and Lily. So intense that Sirius, I think, is a bit glad that Remus has been removed from the picture (did they really think he was the spy, or was that a story they told themselves?).

And nobody, but nobody, even remember Peter exists. Oops.

Oh that moment of Sirius thinking he wished he could stay there forever as their pet cum godfather, that part stuck with me too. So perfect!

I'm still thinking about this by the way, weeks after reading it. Especially that last love you moment. And the poignancy of the timing. I love James/Sirius friendship romance. Or like love level friendship or whatever you call it. And you write it so so beautifully.
