Chapter 66:Back Home Again

Soft waves washed the shore and beside the shore, three figures were laid on the sand; their hands clasping each other's hands.

Sora fluttered his eyes open though he squint a bit as the sun shone its rays down upon them. He placed his hand in front of them, closing his fingers before reopening them so that some sunlight peered through his fingers.

"Huh…?" Sora pushed himself up and gazed at the shore; the soothing waves had calmed him too.

Sora blinked as he heard a groan and he turned around to see Riku and Kairi waking up. Sora gasped, happily.

"Riku! Kairi!" Sora exclaimed. "Are you guys okay?"

Riku stared at the ocean before he looked at his friend. There was a small confusion across his face but it vanished.

"Uh, I guess. I'm fine. How about you, Kairi?" Riku asked.

Kairi nodded. "I'm fine," she gave a soft smile.

Sora gasped, cheerfully. "That's great!" he jumped on them, making them slightly be startled as they nearly lost their balance.

"I'm so glad you're guys okay," Sora whispered.

Riku softened his expression before both of them returned the hug to their friend. After the hug, Sora got up and looked around and had looked right back at the ocean again.

"Are we…really home…?" Sora whispered. "This isn't some illusion…?"

"You're home," a familiar voice spoke.

The trio turned around and saw King Mickey, Roxas, Namine, Donald and Goofy.

"Your Majesty!" Sora exclaimed, running up to him. "Are you guys okay?"

Mickey nodded. "We are but we should be asking you that. You and Riku literally died trying to save the world but you came back. So, are you feeling since you guys came back from the dead?"

"Uh…" Sora crossed his arms and went into a thought. He wasn't exactly sure what to feel and he hadn't really thought of it either. He was just ready to go back in action so he could protect the worlds.

"I feel fine," Riku answered, walking up to him as did Kairi.

Sora nodded. "Yeah, I guess I feel fine too."

King Mickey nodded. "That's good."

Sora frowned. "But, Mickey. How did we…how did we…"

"Come back?" Mickey finished, earning a nod. "Because of this," he showed him the book which earned gasps from the trio. However, the book looked completely different. The book was no longer purple but it was a dull grey as though life had been completely sucked out of it. Even the tints of gold, the rod and the jewel weren't shining. Everything was completely dull.

Sora widened his eyes and he put his hand out to touch the book but stopped, quickly pulling his hand back.

"The book…what happened to it?" Riku asked.

King Mickey made a sadden expression. "We used all its power and therefore it's no longer working. All the pages are lifeless," he opened it and the words that were written in them became dull and empty, no longer meaningful. "This was why it was so important for us to find the pages. This book can literally bring back anyone from the dead but it could use a lot of your energy which was Master Yen Sid wasn't pleased when I took the book."

"Hey, what happened to Master Yen Sid?" Sora suddenly asked although he wished he didn't. The regret look on Mickey's face made Sora wish that he didn't had to see it.

King Mickey shook his head. "Unfortunately, he passed away. He used the book to help us defeat the enemy."

The trio gasped and Sora lowered his head, trying to stop the tears.

"Master Yen Sid…" Sora shut his eyes tight and tightened his fists.

"The book held such powerful energy…it took his life away…" King Mickey responded.

"It should've been me…" Sora mumbled.

Kairi gasped, hitting him on the shoulder. "Sora, how could you say that especially I already lost you?"

"We were meant to defeat the darkness!" Sora exclaimed, upset. "It shouldn't had to take a life…" he whispered.

The group fell in silence for a while though King Mickey spoke.

"If it was you, then a piece of the puzzle wouldn't be solved."

Sora blinked. "What puzzle?"

"The one with the power of the blade will shall stop a rising darkness. With the power of the blade, he'll face the ultimate price. With the price paid, he'll be forgotten but will be revived through hope and faith," Mickey recited. "It was talking about you, Sora. You have a blade that had stopped a rising darkness. The blade that was known as the Power of Seven. You had the power of the blade but you faced consequences. You and Riku both did. You both died but got resurrected. You had been forgotten but you got revived through hope and faith."

Sora gasped softly. It made perfect sense now. The riddle which he had first heard back in Merida's world.

"I…I see…" Sora lifted his hand and his Keyblade where it appeared in his hand. It was regular default Keyblade with the silver blade and the golden handle.

King Mickey shook his head. "You don't have the Power of Seven anymore as evil had been defeated."

"Would that Keyblade appear when the evil appears again?" Kairi asked, curiously.

"Maybe. I'm not exactly sure how that Keyblade works. We just found out from Master Yen Sid," Mickey spoke, scratching his head.

"So…the evil is really gone then…?" Sora whispered. "We don't have to leave…again…?"

King Mickey nodded. "It begins to see that way."

Sora let out a laugh of relief. "Finally!"

Riku laughed, punching him softly at his arm. "Come on. I know you'll miss fighting."

Sora placed his hands behind his head. "Nah, I don't think I will. I'm just glad we don't have to leave home again."

"Typical Sora," Donald smirked.

"Hey!"

The group laughed.

"Oh, there's one more thing…" Roxas said.

"Oh yeah? What's that?" Riku asked.

Smiling, Roxas and the others stepped to the side and there it revealed Faline who looked shy and…scared even. Sora gasped, happily as he widened his eyes with excitement. Smiling, Riku walked towards her and nodded, placing his hand on her shoulder and she looked up.

"I'm glad you're on our team," Riku said.

Faline, now Faine, looked up at him and gave a small smile before it flattered, bringing her head down.

"I'm…I'm sorry…" she said, quietly.

"Hey, it's not your fault, okay? You just didn't know which sides to choose and that's okay. You were lost…lonely…but now you're here and you chose the right side," Riku smiled.

Sora nodded. "Yeah! You're on our team now!"

"Don't be so sure. Everyone who's on your team, you always end up losing them," Donald cackled.

"Hey!" Sora yelled. "Donald! You're gonna get it!" the two started chasing each other which made the group laugh.

Riku laugh. "You'll have to excuse Sora sometimes. He may be able to save the world but he isn't all that brightest," Riku smirked.

Sora stopped. "I heard that you know!"

The group laughed.

Kairi shook her head then asked a question. "Hey, that reminds me. Whatever happened to Cruella? We never saw her in the final battle."

Faine shook her head. "I'm…I'm not so sure…she might've just left and went to hide for a while before a new evil shows up but I don't think a new darkness would rise again."

"Oh what about Maleficent?" Riku questioned.

King Mickey went in thought. "You know, you're all asking questions that I don't really have answers to. Maleficent probably went to do her own things, just like Cruella."

Sora crossed his arm. "Gee…Cruella and Maleficent," he shivered. "I don't think they would make a great pair if the two of them ever cross each other's paths."

"Gawrsh, imagine fighting the two of them," Goofy hyucked.

"Aww, Goofy!" Sora complained. "That would be twice as hard."

The group laughed.

Riku chuckled. "Relax. I don't think Maleficent really does belong to the dark side…"

"Huh? What do you mean by that, Riku?" Mickey asked, surprised.

"The amount of times she helped us even though she didn't needed to?" he pointed it out. "And she could've honestly easily handed us over to the dark side. Oh, and she gave us the paper to help us revive Sora…"

Sora widened his eyes. "She…did? Why?"

Riku shrugged. "I don't know."

"You know…in all honesty, I think she has gotten quite a liking to Riku," Donald grinned, wickedly.

Riku gasped. "What?! Ugh, gross! Donald!"

The group laughed.

"Jokes aside though, I do think that Maleficent just chooses side whichever suits her the best," King Mickey said.

Riku nodded. "Yeah…" Riku stuttered, still a bit grossed out from Donald's comment. "I think that's the perfect answer."

Sora smiled and he turned around to gaze at the sparkling ocean. He was back with his friends again. They defeated the evil that threatened the worlds, met new friends throughout his journey. Faced some hardships but most important of all…

Know who you are…

Sora smiled again. He knew exactly who he was and where he is.

"We're home," Sora said, smiling.
