Miyuki, who wasn't even able to ascertain the situation since she had been sidelined for the entirety of the situation, slowly began to understand what had transpired. She had to admit that it was entirely her loss. In the end, Tatsuya had left her side for Mayumi, but that did not mean that she would give up. She knew that it was impossible for both Tatsuya and Mayumi to go completely silent given their previous stature in the magic society. Tatsuya's absence was going to be missed dearly by the magic community given his contributions to the development of magic under his alias as Mr Silver and Mayumi was a prominent member in the who will not be forgotten anytime soon. Even if Kudou Retsu tried to shelter them, there would come a point where it simply was not possible to do so anymore. That would be her only opportunity left and all she could do now was to lie in wait.
(Scene Change)
Half of the fiery-red sun hid behind the mountain, giving way to a gentle sky painted in an orange gradient. The tranquil lake perfectly captured the reflection of the sky, giving the scenery a perfect symmetry. Tucking Mayumi close to his shoulders, Tatsuya stood beside her along the lake, taking in the magnificent scenery. For the past few months, they were fortunate enough to enjoy this breath-taking view every day as they lived away from all disturbance and distractions, enjoying their new lives lovingly in peace.
They hadn't regret their decision of leaving the 10MC. Both of them, especially Tatsuya, wanted to keep a low-profile and that was no longer possible if there were to remain in the 10MC after what had transpired. Following Kudou Retsu's suggestion, they had initially wanted to relocate to a foreign land but was stopped in view of national security. Instead, they settled for a serene and tranquil countryside. Although Kudou Retsu gave them his word that he would take care of their disappearance, both of them knew that they were bound to be found out in the future. Rather than worrying about the inevitable, they pushed away the worries to enjoy the life that they were living now.
It had been their first-time experiencing life without any pressure of sorts, enjoying complete freedom was something that they had never even dreamt of. Even finding love was something that they thought would be hard to come by, but they managed to make it happen.
Mayumi began to recount their journey together. Their fateful meeting on the first day of school that struck such a deep impression on her started everything off. Afterwards, things moved along quickly and the pace never failed to pick up. As it got tougher, it only served to strengthen Mayumi's feelings for Tatsuya. Where there were highs, there were lows too. They couldn't help but let out a chuckle when Mayumi got the part when Tatsuya broke her heart in her bedroom. They have weathered it all together and at long last came their deserving reward.
At the start of it all, Tatsuya had always had a cold gaze on him, but that was now replaced by a gentle gaze. When his gaze found Mayumi's, the couple couldn't help but smile. Pulling Mayumi even closer to him, they shared a passionate kiss in the warm presence of the sunset. All they had was each other and all they needed was one another, there just wasn't a better fit.
Every moment they shared together was cherished because who knows, at any moment their peaceful life can be turned completely upside down.
