Chapter 56: Nora the Vampire Slayer

(Que Story OP – Hello Sleepwalkers "Hyakkiyakou")

After the ending of twilight to the blackness of night did RWBY, Ichigo, and co set out on another patrol through the streets of Karakura. This time it was on the sole intent to find their missing friend Uryu instead of spreading out through Karakura. They already had a lead that the Bounts had an odd fixation on the Quincy, and so had the Mod Souls lead for them by tracking their unique reiatsu. The group were currently casually walking down on the empty sidewalks with the Mod Souls, still in plushie bodies, leading the way. Though on the off chance that they were people on the same street, they would only see Chad, Rukia, and Orihime since most of the group were in their spiritual form. Or the walking animal and one BDSM doll.

"Don't you think it would be less conspicuous if you hanged off of us?" Ichigo questioned to the Mod Souls. "People would freak out if they saw a couple of strange dolls walking and talking on their own."

'And that is an offense on all dolls.' Rukia thought while eyeing Ririn's body.

"None of us even chose these bodies anyway!" Ririn exclaimed furiously, glaring at Ruby. "It's that bimbo's fault that I am stuck in this... horrid perversion! You'll deal with it, o-"

Ririn was unfortunately cut off from her heated speech when Ruby snapped in movement to the doll. She clutched the Mod Soul by the neck with the vice grip that would snap a human neck, but only stopped Ririn from saying anything. Not that Ririn could summon any words staring in fright at the sweetly smiling face of Ruby who was radiating a very sinister aura.

"Ku-ku-ku, remember what I said, Ririn-chan." Cooed Ruby too sweetly to be innocent. "Be a good girl, and I will get you a new body. Be a bad girl, then I'll have to do some bad things."

"I'll be good!" Squeaked Ririn when Ruby loosened her grip just enough to speak.

The Arrancar widened her smile and dropped Ririn gently back to the ground. It was then Ruby noticed everyone around her had wisely taken a few paces back, but she simply shrugged.

"Another thing, Ririn." Ruby added. "Don't call it 'horrid perversion', please."

"Y-Yes ma'am!" Exclaimed Ririn, until the Mod Soul suddenly perked up. "I got a signal! Up on the roof!"

Ririn emphasized by pointing to the roof of the building in front of them. All sort of comedy vanished from Ruby's face replaced with a serious face mirrored by everyone else. Simultaneously, Ichigo and Ruby vanished in their respective speed techniques and reappeared the same instant on the roof. They were just too late from whatever transpired as the whole scene they were greeted to looked like to be from a war. There was a fire still burning by the entrance to the roof, multiple craters littered the floor, and the water tower was leaking from several holes.

"They were just here." Ruby said, sniffing the air of reiatsu. "I can smell their reiatsu lingering here. Two of them to in fact."

"So that fire had to be from that Yoshino woman, or at least another Bount with fire powers as well." Ichigo surmised, studying the area.

"Whoever the other Bount was, for some reason they had a scuffle." Ririn noted. "Are the Bounts on what they want from Uryu that they are literally fighting over him?"

"Well, they certainly weren't holding back on damages." Yang commented. "You'd think they are trying to get ahold of the whole neighborhood."

"It's the most likely scenario that we have at the moment." Kurodo agreed with Ririn.

Ruby continued to sniff out the reishi residue the Bounts left. She identified the one known as Yoshino from the fire, but the other was different. To her, she found the scent of steel, and that scent had power closest to a shinigami captain. The Arrancar paused from her investigation to the expert tracker of Team RWBY, who was joined with Chad.

"Blake, have you found anything?" Ruby asked her teammate.

Blake's 'bow' twitched as she found the remains of a bandage. "I found this. Wasn't this on Uryu?"

"He was still a little roughed up, so that wouldn't have been left behind on his own free will." Ruby said. "I think whoever fought Yoshino won the battle and took her and Uryu with them."

"I think I can track them." Ririn announced, drawing everyone's attention. "Their reishi is still in the air, but my current body is cumbersome on my abilities. If only we had our gigai."

Ruby smirked, showing her back canines. "That's not a problem for me. I am basically a hound for reishi. With how much is fresh in the air from their fight, I have a good trail where they went, and it goes that way."

The Arrancar concluded pointing in a seemingly random direction across the other rooftops of the buildings and homes of Karakura, complete with a cheeky smile on her face. Ichigo sweat dropped at the act, and put it up to one Ruby's many weird antics. She could be calling for cookies and then suddenly become a little Yoruichi in the next second.

"You know, you could always have gotten your gigai this entire time if you needed them." Ichigo noted.

A dead silence came from the Mod Souls as the obvious solution to their plight processed through their minds. Weiss blinked at the silent trio with surprise. Did they really not realize this at all?

"Did you not think of that until now?" Weiss wondered.

"Do you mean... that I..." Ririn mumbled towards Ruby.

Ruby chuckled. "I never said anything about changing to a real body of flesh and blood. Only that you have no say in what doll you can use. So you can go ahead and get your gigai while the rest of us go after after Quincy kidnappers."

The Mod Souls disappeared with portal summoned by Nobu to collect their gigai while the others raced in the indicated direction of the trail of the Bounts led by Ruby. As they neared the gap, Weiss manipulated her reishi to form an ice bridge to cross the gap between the buildings for those in their physical bodies. This process repeated itself till they reached the outskirts of Karakura where there were more trees than buildings.

Eventually, their efforts were awarded when the trail came to a mansion in the middle of the woods. The group were hidden within the foliage of the forest that surrounded them, but now that they were this close Ruby and Rukia realized how significant of a find they have stumbled upon. Not only did they sense both the reishi of the unknown Bount and Yoshino, but also several other unknown Bounts that were holed up here.

"There have to be about seven or eight of them in there." Rukia noted.

"I see." Ruby said, glancing beside when she noticed the reappearance of the Mod Souls in their gigai. "Nobu, sorry to ask you of this, but can you go get Ren, Nora, and Senna to meet here."

As usual, Nobu did not say a word, but gave a nod of acknowledgement before disappearing away through a portal. Ririn and Kurodo chose to stay behind to at least provide some support in the upcoming fight.

"So how we going about this?" Yang asked, punching her fists together.

"We'll split up into two groups." Ruby explained. "Now I know that might seem bad, but I do not want to give these people the chance to escape and kill more people. You are all with me, classic Team RWBY style. Ichigo will go with his friends of Chad, Orihime, and Rukia. They will go through the front entrance while we take the back, cutting off their escape. Remember, these guys are not to be underestimated. You see a bad guy, best to have a partner with you."

"Alright." Ichigo replied, drawing out his dual zanpakuto. "Do you mind if we go 'greet' them first?"

Ruby smirked. "Of course, Ichi-kun."

"Let's go, guys." Ichigo said, sprinting with Rukia, Orihime, Chad, Kurodo, and Ririn close behind him.

Meanwhile, Ruby let her team around the mansion. Or at least tried to because at every occasion Weiss, Yang, and Blake seem to be have lost their sense of direction, and Ruby had to backtrack a little unless she would lose them. She knew that when Blake hit herself into a tree that Ruby knew that something was messing with their senses, and it was even starting to effect her as they still could not get to the back or any other entrance into the mansion.

"Something is so off with this." Ruby spoke up to address the situation. "I don't anything that could impede even my senses, and I was already a potent sensory type before I became a hybrid. And by now we would be hearing Ichigo's destructive rampage right about now. It has to take a lot of power to mess up both of the senses of myself and Ichigo if the other group is getting lost as well."

As if on cue, there was the loud bang on the roof of the mansion where pieces of the tile and wood were blown into the air, leaving a man-sized hole. Ichigo's team were the ones to jump out with Kurodo and Ririn joining them looking to be on the run from something. What that was came in the swarm of flying eyes with four tentacles and maws of sharp teeth, and they were everywhere in the sense they were filling the air around them and flying from the hole in the roof.

"Uhm, we've got trouble." Blake said, worry in her tone as she drew her blade.

Weiss, Yang, and Ruby turned to Blake's direction where she looked, finding that a huge swarm of those same creatures were gunning after them from the forest. Weiss and Yang openly gagged at the sight of their eyes also serving as the mouthpiece for those gnashing teeth, but it was all the more gross up close. In response, Weiss set up an ice barrier from her use of glyphs while Blake and Ruby hacked at the swarm in precise swings. It proved fruitless from the sheer amount of them, and Ruby didn't want to use her more destructive moves if it meant alerting the Bounts and having them retreat somewhere else.

"Dammit, we have to run." Ruby ordered.

Like Ichigo's group they made a run for it, She gestured her teammates to get in front of herself. In the back of the four, Ruby fired Balas to take out as many of their swarming pursuers to make it easier to run. They could not made a choice in turns with swarms of the flying eyeballs confronting wherever they tried to make a sharp turn. The chase forced RWBY to go through the front entrance of the mansion, which was where they reunited with Ichigo's group with Orihime and Chad slightly out of breath. Ruby slammed the door shut on their way in and aimed an arm ready to fire a Bala or Cero if the swarm came through. Surprisingly, there wasn't even the sound of the flying eyeballs banging on the door to force their way in.

"Those things chased you too?" Ichigo said.

"Nah, we were running around trying to get the ice cream truck." Yang said sarcastically. "No shit Sherlock we were being chased by those freaky eyes as well. Seriously, why do they have mouths in their eyes?!"

"But why did they stop now?" Wondered Weiss. "It's almost like they-"

"-led us here." Gasped Ruby in realization. "It's a trap!"

"Oh we aren't so bloodthirsty to call it a trap." A smooth, masculine voice echoed throughout the hall they stood in. "Think of it as a wild surprise."

Everyone in the room snapped their eyes to attention and Ruby could smell the air was becoming almost dense with the concentration of Bount reishi. Their eyes eventually went up where another floor was built in the hall for a balcony that lined the room. From there, six individuals looked down on them with smug smirks with the exception of a man in a red coat, short cropped white hair, sharp facial features, and red eyes smiling calmly down at them. In short, the man fit the appearance of a traditional vampire, minus the Romanian accent. The others features were clear to see from below.

First that caught Ruby's attention apart from the white-haired man was a young woman with long dark teal hair wearing a qipao with beige pants. Another was a man with a lean build and light orange hair that hid away his left eye, and he gave the RWBY, Ichigo, and co a predatory gaze not unlike that of Tyrian. On the other side was a huge man with a beer belly and red hair and beard that indicates a possible European origin, and he carried the scent of metal from earlier. Surprisingly, there was an old man among them in a wheelchair. The last was a man who looked the most ordinary with his glasses and short hair.

The white-haired man that made their presence known hopped down from the balcony to stand between a set of stairs that to the upper floor. His eyes glazed over the crowd, quickly losing interest in most of them. Those eyes creeped Ruby out, sensing there was something terribly long in his gaze when she felt them on herself, and they stayed that way for a moment before landing on Ichigo.

"I take it your the leader of these Bounts." Ichigo assumed. "The entire time we were being chased by those eyeballs was all to lead us here."

"That boy has quite the smart brain between his shoulders." Commented the teal-haired woman.

The leader of the vampires did not say a word to Ichigo. He seemed slightly amused if the widening of his smile into a smirk was anything to go by. Then, the vampire flexed his power, and his spiritual pressure that was once carefully hidden now barraged on the group on the levels of mid to high captain class. Rukia broke down into a nervous sweat feeling that her own spiritual pressure was outclassed, and even those without sensory abilities like Yang, Weiss, and Blake had their sensations forced in a manner of speaking that made them feel as though they were drowning in power. Most the group were noticeably having shaky knees and fell to the floor. Only Ichigo and Ruby remained unchanged in their stance due to their own powers equaling themselves in their original Bankai forms.

Just as it appeared, the vampire reined in his spiritual pressure, leaving Yang, Blake, Kurodo, Ririn, and Weiss heaving for breath while Orihime, Rukia, and Chad were winded after preventing their knees from buckling too much.

"What terrifying spiritual pressure." Kurodo gasped.

"My name is Jin Kariya." Introduced the head vampire. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Ichigo Kurosaki."

Ichigo scowled in paranoid way with narrowed eyes. "Why and how the hell do you know my name?"

"I make it my business to know people of great interest." Jin responded. "So that makes the little lady Rukia Kuchiki and the one beside that feels like a Hollow would be Ruby Rose. Imagine my surprise when you turned up one day having a tail with your spiritual body. Fascinating how that came about."

"None of your damn business." Hissed Ruby, growling like a wolf to show canines and her wolf ears perking straight.

The others felt nervous that Jin knew the identity of Ruby herself. Worry turned into fear, and it made some of the Bounts on the upper floor smirk with delight at the sight. Those eyes that gave that impassive glare only grew that fear.

"Ichigo," Rukia said, her voice shaking, "you have to be careful with this guy."

"I know." Ichigo stated, holding his zanpakuto at his sides. "We've come to take back our friend Uryu."

"I have no intention of returning your friend." Jin stated without any rebuttal. "We need the Quincy so I am afraid you will have to just live without him."

"I don't care how much you need him; that's not what Uryu wants." Ichigo said, a bit more force in his voice.

Jin smirked more. "Oh really? So what do you plan to do?"

"Then we will have to make things ugly." Ruby answered, unsheathing her pale zanpakuto and a crimson/purple aura burning around her. "Trust me. You don't want that to happen."

Jin did not break his smile. "I believe I will try my luck."

"Wrong choice." Ichigo exclaimed, flaring his immense spiritual pressure. "Rukia, take Kurodo and Ririn to go find Uryu. Ruby and I will hold them off."

"Yang, Blake, Weiss, you stay with us to keep these creeps occupied." Ruby ordered.

"Oh hell yeah!" Yang cheered, pumping her fists together. "It's been too damn long since I've punched a bad guy."

Weiss sighed. "Just like the good Beacon days."

Drawing their weapons, WBY stood guard at the hybrid pair's flanks with Weiss standing with her partner and the other two at Ichigo's right. Meanwhile, Rukia and the Mod Souls made a run to find Uryu in the mansion. The teal-haired woman tried stopping them by waving a fan that fired needle-like projectiles. None of them made their mark as Ruby casted Hado 1: Sho, using the physical force attack to blow them away in the wall. It was too late to make a second attempt as Rukia's group already disappeared around the corner.

"I guess this will do." Jin stated, snapping his fingers.

At his gesture, the teal-haired woman and the giant man jumped down to the ground floor with Ruby, Ichigo, and WBY. Weiss glared at the woman who gave a predatory grin at the trio while the man's gaze was impassive at best. The woman prepared her weapons that came in the form of a jian and bladed fan connected by a chain, and the man summoned his Doll that took the form of a feminine collection of iron balls.

"Ooh, what new toys have you given me today, I wonder?" Spoke the Doll with sadistic glee, green eyes scouting them out. "I wonder-"

The Doll cut her words off when a sudden commotion reach their ears. It was enough to drive all of their attention away from the current situation and tilt an ear to the air. What sounded like the whistle of a falling rocket resulted in the ceiling of the hall destroyed with a hole in it and something to crash down at the teal-haired Bount. She almost didn't react in time to sidestep away from the 'projectile' that created a dust cloud in her previous spot. However, those like Ruby used to tracking high speeds perfectly saw what or rather who it really was, but it didn't put down the shocked look on their faces.

From out of the dust cloud jumped a familiar hyperactive orange-haired psycho, Nora Valkyrie. Sky blue eyes were dilated to show the insanity within them, and limbs practically showcased raw power with arcs of electricity coursing around body. Instead of her usual hammer, she was holding of all things two man-sized wooden stakes.

"Nora's the name!" Cackled the Huntress. "And I'm here to slay some vampires!"

From above just peeking from the hole in the ceiling, Ren could only think what possessed him to fire a Raikohou at Nora to give her a boost in strength. Then he immediately realized because Nora would break his legs, which meant he had to deal with Nurse Nora again. That was not a nightmare he wanted to relive.

Like I promised, here's the chapter, but don't expect another one for some time. I am going to work on the next chapter for Rose Dragon Empress immediately after this, then finishing The Sins' Return. At least we get to finally see vampire slayer Nora in all of her insanity.

Something I need some help on. What would be Ren's Bankai? I already have the name, I am just not sure what it will actually do.
