Not the best story I've ever written. I thought of it when I was just about to fall asleep. I like all these pairings but I have to say I like NaruHina better.

Best Friend Theory

Hinata watched as her cousin asked the girl of his dreams to dance. She said yes of course, because who could say no to the boy of her dreams. Neji and Tenten had been best friends for years and they both secretly were crushing on each other. Hinata smiled as she watched them walk over to the dance floor laughing.

Hinata's eyes then gazed over to her crush, Naruto. He was, at this time, trying to get Sakura to dance with him. Hinata frowned as she watched Sakura finally agree and Naruto took her hand and lead her to the dance floor. Since Sasuke had left, the two had grown closer. How Hinata wished she was in Sakura's position. Sakura and Naruto were best friends now just like Neji and Tenten. Hinata was starting to see a pattern.

Hinata looked over to the tables where Shikamaru and Ino were sitting. Shikamaru had his head on the table, snoozing away and Ino was nagging at him to ask her to dance. Eventually, Shikamaru called her troublesome and asked her dance, Ino squealed in delight. Shikamaru and Ino too were best friends; for god's sake their dads were best friends.

Hinata sighed but jumped when a voice spoke,

"Naruto hasn't asked you to dance yet?" The voice belonged to Kiba Inuzuka.

"No, h-h-he hasn't and i-i-t's the last dance." Hinata couldn't hide her disappointment between her stutters. Kiba frowned. He had never understood why Hinata liked Naruto. Deep down, Kiba had some feelings for the stuttering girl. He looked at the people dancing. Neji-Tenten, Naruto-Sakura, and Shikamaru-Ino.

"Kiba?" The boy looked at Hinata, "Are we best friends?" Kiba thought about it for a minute. Sure, he and Hinata are on the same team and they have been through a lot together, but did they consider each other best friends?

"Sure." Kiba said flashing a woof grin but all Hinata said was,

"I see." And she frowned causing Kiba to frown and look at the dancing couples again. Suddenly Kiba had an epiphany. Each couple were on the same team plus they were considered best friends. Kiba couldn't help grinning to himself. Can't help it if fate wants it to be like this.

"Hinata, would you like to dance?" Kiba asked. Hinata nodded and Kiba took her hand and lead her to the dance floor where they joined the other three couples.

"Aww, aren't Kiba and Hinata cute, Neji?" Tenten smiled while Neji frowned. At least it's not the fox boy. What with my cousin and boys that are like…dogs? Neji thought.

"I thought Hinata liked me." Said Naruto.

"Well, she did." That was all Sakura could think to say.

"Shikamaru, why can't you be more like Kiba?" Ino grumbled while Shikamaru muttered troublesome over a hundred times.

As Kiba and Hinata danced, they didn't realize that everyone was talking about them. All Hinata could think about was her theory, that best friends fell in love. And as she looked at her dance partner and he smiled back at her, she knew her theory was true.
