Quite Amusing

"Be a cop."

You remember the first time you saw him take a couple of shots at the paper dummy. You ahd brealy known him then, and he had come down to prove his own abilities. Sadly, while you hit the dead center, he hit off center. The two of you engaged in a sneering debate, which you won, and then you stalked off, lhearing him fire a few more shots behind you. Startled, had looked back and spotted that he had hit the dummy five times in the head. Ouch. You kept walking.

"On the surface they pretend everything is alright, but inside they're chewing themselves up like cancer!"

It's what the abnormally short woman from the club says so conversationally while talking about her relationship with the victim. You open your mouth to state that it is impossible for anyone to physically gouge out thier insides with thier mouths. Then you notice the look on Booth's face. It's somewhat pained and embarrassed. What's more, he's looking at the woman likeRarely have you ever seen such a look on his face, and it scares you somewhat. But you don't say anything, because you are not equipped with handling emotional situations.A burning in your stomach occurs, but you tell yourself you don't know why he looks like that.

"I prefer good boys."

You mean it; a relationship with a law abiding citizen of good nature is the most beneficial to you. Of course, you have never had the experience of dating one: David, Michael, Peter, Will, those two guys whose names you cannot be bothered to remember, Sully....well, Sully was actually the greatest of all of them. He just wasn't for you.

That situation alone should be reason enough for you to scoff at the concept of LUCK.

Hacker, who may seem nice now, could be another cultist.

You don't want to know.

You act like you hear the other people talking, act like you care who the murderer is, act like there is more than a pang of heartache over the reason for the victim's death, when really all you can think about is Booth's face and the woman's words.

"You know exactly why."

That's the only dialogue that bursts through your cloudy contemplation. The murderer was telling it to his unfaithful wife, but it was also meant for you.

You know why.

Don't you?

"I'm becoming quite amusing."

After all is said and done, you still want to make him smile. You never want to see that look on his face again. You hope that your rather ridiculous jokes, however repetitous, can still retain the key to wiping the unhappiness out of his face. He lets you know that you only need to say a joke one time before...

"Seriously, can you do me a favor?"

And of course, you know long before you know what it is that you are going to do it for him. Steal a bottle of wine, jump off a cliff, die, kill...

And when he turns to you with the goggles on his face, the perfect shot dummy behind his back, and earmuffs, you life you thumb as a way to acknowledge his skill. He didn't need you there, but you always would come there, if only just to remind yourself that he would never miss a shot for all the money in the world.

A/N: I was going to add more dialogue, but I like how this was going. I understand if it sucks. Don't blame you at all.
