Rachel ran down the sand dunes, phone in her hand. She could see Amy and Finn in the water, edging further and further out, hand in hand, and if it wasn't for the dangerous situation and her hatred for Finn, she would actually have been quite content to sit down and watch young love blossom in the waves.

As it was, Adam was shouting at her down the phone, threatening to cancel the wedding if she didn't come back, and Finn and Amy were close to drowning. She shut her phone in frustration, ending the call, and approached the shore. Sand trickled between her toes as her sandals sunk with every footstep, and for once she was glad not to be wearing anything more on her feet.

"Amy!" she called, stepping into the cold water. It lapped at her feet, and she hitched her trousers up as she waded towards them. Her bag was discarded on the empty beach, her phone and car keys inside.

"Miss, please, just go away. We're fine on our own, you don't need to be here."

"You should be in school, that's reason enough for me to be here."

"Yeah, so should you, though. We're fine, like Amy said. Just go away." Finn made a show of wrapping his arm around Amy's waist. "That's what we want, isn't it, babe?"

Amy nodded, taking another few steps deeper. The water was almost up to her neck now, and Rachel was concerned. She waded in up to her waist, trying to ignore her shivers.

For every step Rachel inched closer, Finn seemed to pull Amy in even further. Just as she was about to reach out for the girl, Finn grabbed Amy's hair and tugged her under, ducking his head in as well.

"No!" Rachel cried, lunging forward and soaking her own face at the same time. She swum under, pulling Amy's arm and trying to get her head above water.

Finn's head popped up, laughing, closely followed by Amy. "Did we scare you, eh, Miss?"

Rachel shook her hair from her face. "That wasn't funny. Come on, you two, back to the beach, now."

Amy looked at Finn, who nodded. They took a few steps towards the shallow, Rachel keeping level with them all the way.

Her face hit water once more with a searing pain, and she was aware of a pressure being applied to her head. She struggled upwards, but someone was holding her down. Surely Finn wouldn't stoop so low as to try and kill her? She summoned as much energy as possible to push herself out of the water, but as it all began to go black, there was no fight left in her.

Rachel's mobile phone began to ring on the beach as Finn and Amy waded out. Amy picked it up and listened to the message.

"Rach, it's Adam. Look, forget what I said earlier, I was angry. I still want to marry you, I always have. Give me a call back when you get this."

The call was never returned.
