A/N: It would be interesting to find out what Finch and Reese think if they discovered just what they're up to in Cheyenne Mountain...

"You look pensive, Finch. What's the problem?" Reese inquired in his normal soft tone. But the question was honest - his partner in crime-prevention didseem pensive. Or, at least, more pensive than usual.

Finch glanced up from his omnipresent computer display. He chose his nom de guerre well, in Reese's estimation – in certain ways, he definitely resembled a small bird. "There is something decidedly odd about our current target," he replied. As Reese came around to look at the screen, Finch elaborated. "There are several obituaries for him in various newspapers in the Colorado Springs area, over a period of about ten years."

"It seems the good Doctor Jackson has died a few times and come back again," Reese observed dryly. "Any reason as to why he'd need to fake his own death more than once?" It really was decidedly odd, as Harold had put it, especially since Jackson always returned to Colorado Springs. Usually, if a man's life were in such danger that he faked his own death, he usually didn't stick around. Of course, Reese mused, there were exceptions that proved the rule. His own recent experience with his former colleagues was a case in point.

"Not as such, no. But Dr. Jackson is definitely involved in highly-classified military projects; he is officially a civilian consultant with the U.S. Air Force, and he hasn't published a paper in more than a decade." Finch's fingers danced across the keyboard as his eyes darted around the screen. "Why would the Air Force have an archaeologist consult on a deep-space radar telemetry project?"

Reese snorted quietly, allowing himself a small smile. Pentagon cover stories never improved, it seemed. "They wouldn't," he said flatly. Of course, Finch already knew that.

"Well, whatever they're really up to in Colorado Springs, it seems that Dr. Jackson might have to post another obituary soon. That is, unless we find out who wants him dead and stop them, Mr. Reese." Finch looked up at Reese in his strange, unblinking fashion.

No doubt this case would prove an interesting challenge.
