Six years have past...

The trainer took in a deep breath as she stood in front of the Pokemon League Champion's door. She placed both of her hands on the cool metal and pushed. To her surprise it was very easy to push them open, when she took her first few steps the doors closed behind her. After the doors closed she suddenly found herself in a grassy field with pink pedals floating in the air then she sees a big cherry blossom tree nearby and there's a person sitting against it. She walks up to the tree to find a guy and in front of him is six poke-balls on a belt.

This can't be the champion he's way too young.

"I'm here to defeat the champion."

The guy looked up and smirked "You sound confident."

The trainer also smirked "Because I know that I will defeat the champion."

"I like your mindset kid. Chose a poke-ball."

She looked at the six poke-balls, most of them had scratches on them and were well used. She pointed at the one that had the most. She thought that it must be his strongest Pokemon and wanted to get it out of the way first. The chocolate haired man grinned and detached the poke-ball from the belt. He grabbed the belt and stood up, standing nearly a foot taller than the girl.

"Follow me."

He then walks behind the tree and the girl eagerly follows him. And her eyes went wide, the grassy field was gone now in front of her was a simple dirt battle field with a pink haired girl holding two flags.

"W-wait where's the tree?" exclaimed the girl as she searches for the massive tree.

The guy chuckled and turns around "What's your name?"

"Zoey."

"Nice to meet you Zoey, I am looking forward to battling you."

Her jaw dropped "Y-you're the undefeated champion Nate?!"

Nate was amused, this happens a lot with people from other regions.

"Yep."

"How old are you?"

"21."

Her eyes went wide "Is it true that it has been six years since you've been defeated?"

A wide grin appeared on Nate's face "On the contrary, I've never been defeated, it's been six years since I became Champion. Now then, shall we get started?"

Nate started to walk to one side of the battle field, Zoey quickly went to the other side. Nate tossed the poke-ball, she chose into the air and a red flash appeared than it formed a canine Pokemon with orange fur marked with jagged black stripes with diamond shaped ears, and with parts of its body covered in shaggy beige fur.

"Arcanine!" the Pokemon roared.

Nate grinned, clearly excited about this battle "Ready?"

Zoey smirked and reached for a poke-ball and pushed the button making it expand.

"Of course."

She then threw the poke-ball.

"Luxray is unable to battle! The winner of this match is Pokemon League Champion Nate Talons!"

Zoey sighed than held up a poke-ball "You did awesome Luxray."

Nate walked up to Emboar, who was panting and was paralyzed from a thunder wave.

"Here bud eat this."

In Nate's hand was a Cheri berry. Emboar quickly ate it, knowing what it was for, after a few seconds the affect of thunder wave disappeared. Emboar walked next to Nate as they went up to Zoey.

"That was a great match, Zoey."

Nate stuck his hand out, but instead of shaking his hand Zoey gave him a hug. Nate instantly froze, but returned the hug. The reason why he froze was because a certain pink haired girl was sending daggers to his back. She let go of him.

"I'll come back! And I will be stronger!"

Nate grinned "I'll be looking forward to out next battle."

Nate waved as Zoey stepped on the glowing green circle and warped out of the room. Nate sighed and ran a hand through his hair, than he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist from behind.

"In my defense, I offered a handshake."

The person scoffed "You were asking for it."

Nate chuckled and pulled the person in front of him.

"How was I asking for it?"

"You kept smiling at her and being way too charming."

Nate grinned "Yancy, you're a big idiot."

She looked at him with a raised eyebrow "You know that's not helping your case."

Nate leaned in "You don't need to be jealous, Yancy. Even though it's very adorable."

Her cheeks tinted pink and she looked at something on her right. Nate chuckled.

"I don't think I'll ever get tired of making you blush."

To his amusement her cheeks went from pink to red in the matter of seconds. He laughed and pulled her to his side and guided her out of the room.

Nate jumped off Archeops, than helped Yancy off the Pokemon.

"Nate you didn't need to take me home."

Nate smiled "I haven't seen you in nearly two weeks, it's the least I can do."

"Sorry about that, it was a last minute interview in Kanto."

Nate shook his head "Don't need to apologize, but I'll accept a kiss."

Yancy grinned "Well than it can't be helped right?"

Nate softly laughed "Exactly."

He gently cupped her cheek and leaned forward. Yancy's eyes slowly closed and she was standing on her toes. Their lips were about to make contact.

"Can you guys get a room?"

Yancy's eyes shot open and she jumped, an angry tick mark appeared on Nate's head. They both turned their heads to find Candice with a sly smirk. Yancy had a red face, as for Nate he was giving Candice a irritated look.

"Great timing Candice." said Nate through gritted teeth.

She gave him an innocent smile and tilted her head to the side "I try."

Nate sighed and looked back at his girlfriend, gave her a peck on the cheek "See you tomorrow?"

Yancy also had a hint of irritation in her eyes than nodded "You'll be bringing the puppies?"

Nate gave her a small smile "Yep."

Yancy went towards the gym leader and roughly shoved her back into the house. Nate started to make his way to his waiting Pokemon.

"So close." he said under his breath.

When he was about to climb on top of Archeops, he felt somebody grab the collar of his shirt and jerk making him turn around than a pair of lips were on his in the next second. Instantly knowing who it was, Nate slightly smirked and closed his eyes and pulled the person closer. It was not a open mouthed kiss, but a very sweet and passionate closed mouthed kiss between to people who love each other. After their deep kiss they parted gasping for air, Nate looked at his flushed face girlfriend. Yancy looked at Nate and jumped into his arms, he caught her and hugged her tightly. Yancy's feet were a few inches off the ground.

"Ferris wheel, at five."

Nate smiled and tighten his grip, never wanting this hug to end "I wouldn't miss it."

Nate was at Yancy's doorstep with the six puppies, three Growlithes and three Vulpixs. Yes, his Arcanine and Yancy's Ninetales had puppies. Nate knocked on the door.

"Hold on. I'm coming."

He heard a voice come from behind the door than it opened showing Yancy in a tank top, shorts, and a messy bedhead.

"Nate? It's 5:30."

"Yeah I know but you know how long the line is, so they need me to be there early."

Yancy's Ninetales ran outside to her pups and lover. The puppies barked happily. The sight made Nate and Yancy smile.

"Hey Yancy?"

"Yeah?"

"Did you know that Pokemon represent the feelings of their trainers?"

Yancy yawned "Actually I didn't."

Nate slightly smiled and was kind of glad that Yancy was too tired to process what he just said. Nate knew that fact ever since he was little, but sometimes it wasn't always true. As Nate was watching his Pokemon, Yancy couldn't help, but to steal glances at her boyfriend. She couldn't get over the fact of how good he looks in his 'work clothes'. Nate was wearing a dark navy blue tunic with a red trim, dark navy blue pants tucked into large black boots, a simple brown belt around his waist held his pokeballs, and a black cape that reached around his knees. The chocolate eyed Pokemon trainer couldn't help, but to chuckle then wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close.

"I'll meet you at the Ferris wheel."

Yancy smiled "You better."

After the last and final trainer had stepped onto the green circular platform and teleported to the Poke Center, Nate out a sigh and placed his Poke balls into the healing machine then sat down on a chair that was placed on the side of the plain looking battle field.

"Twenty-one battles...damn, the number just gets higher and higher."

Then he hears the doors open with a deep rumble. He looks up to see Iris.

"Hey Iris."

The former champion smiled then lets out a chuckle "You seem exhausted."

Nate laughs "Please, compared to elite four, my job is a little bit easier. You guys are the one that get hit with the wave of trainers first."

Iris took a seat next to Nate "True, but you're hit with the strong ones, the ones that are able to beat the elite four."

"But hey, I'm still here. The "famous" Champion Nate."

The girl next to him giggled "And that's why I chose you to take over my place."

"But why didn't you just given me Marshal's place?"

"Nate, come on, if you were an elite four then I wouldn't have any battles...wait why did I give you the Champion shot?"

The two shared a laugh then a soft beep sound was heard, his Pokemon were done healing. Iris stood up and walked towards the door she had entered. Before she had left, she spoke.

"In all seriousness, I chose you because I saw an endless amount of passion in you."

Then the doors closed behind her, Nate smiled.

"Thanks Iris."

Nate was currently sprinting towards the Ferris wheel like a mad man.

Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap! I'm late!

It was currently 5:15 and Nate is late for his date. As the Ferris wheel comes into his view, he sees a familiar figure standing there, patiently waiting. He approaches the figure, as if they had eyes behind their heads, the figure turns around. Nate felt his heart race a little. Yancy was wearing a simple, light white summer dress. He instantly notices that Yancy wasn't wearing her staple white hat with a pink bow, which allowed her hair to gently sway in the breeze, it was a sight to behold.

"S-Sorry. I got held up."

The woman before him, shook her head and gave him a soft smile "It's okay."

Nate took in a deep breath as his heartbeat became a little faster.

God, you look so beautiful.

A light blush appeared on Yancy's face and she shyly looked down, "D-Don't say stuff like that out of the blue!"

"Huh? What?"

"You know how i-it makes me feel embarrassed! Especially in public."

Nate was confused "Did I say that out loud?"

She looked up and nodded.

His facial expression soften, he let out a chuckle "Sorry. I can't help but to state the obvious."

Her blush grew deeper, he then noticed a hint of blue in her hair, he closed the gap between them and gently grabbed her hair.

"N-Nate?"

"Hold still, you still got some blue in your hair."

Yancy giggled then wiped his cheek with her thumb "You got some soot on you. I'm guessing that today's battles were intense?"

The brown haired man nodded "Yep. The last kid had a Salamence, its fire blast nearly hit me! My battle field is scorched."

"Wow, you better keep it up! Sounds like the trainers are getting stronger and stronger."

He smiled "That's what makes it fun."

He took a step back "Done. I still can't believe that you still haven't been found out."

Yancy hugged Nate's arms and started to lead him to the entrance "Whatever could you be talking about?"

Nate chuckled and stepped into the cab "Nothing. Absolutely nothing."

The doors closed behind them and the Ferris wheel started to move, there wasn't anybody else in the other cabs, Nate and Yancy were always the last ride. The couple watched as the ground become further away from them and the outline of the city came into view accompanied with the sunset. Yancy let out a sigh and tighten her grip on Nate's arm. The brown haired man glanced at his girlfriend, his heart beating rapidly, his other hand reaches into his back pocket. When his fingers brushed the soft velvet, he started to sweat bullets.

Yancy softly spoke "Nate?"

His heart nearly jumped out of his throat, Nate quickly pulls his hand out his pocket.

"Y-Yeah?"

The pink haired woman continues to look at the view "A-Are you h-happy?"

By Yancy's tone, Nate could tell she was nervous "Happy about what?"

"Our r-relationship."

He pulled her into a hug "Of course. What makes you say that?"

"I-I have s-something to tell you."

He releases her "Wait. I can say something first?"

Yancy starts to play with the strap of her bag "S-Sure."

Nervousness overcomes Nate's body and his cheeks has a pink tint to it.

"Y-You know how I was talking about how Pokemon represent the feelings of their trainers?"

She nods "Yeah, you mentioned i-it this morning."

"R-Right. Um, you know how Ninetales and Arcanine have puppies and are mates for life?"

The blush on her face deepens "Y-Yeah?"

Nate lets out a sigh "Um, what I'm trying to say is..."

He grabs the velvet box out of his pocket, goes onto a knee and opens the box "Will you be the Ninetales to my Arcanine?"

Yancy was flabbergasted, she was not expecting Nate to propose to her. Not being able to form words, she simply nodded.

"Yes?" Nate asks with disbelief.

Suddenly being overcome with excitement, Yancy jumps into his arms, knocking him onto his back "Yes! You big idiot! Of course yes!"

Yancy grabs his face and kisses her now fiance. After the kiss, Nate's whole body relaxes and he lets out a laugh and hugs Yancy "Holy crap. I've been a complete nervous wreak this whole day. Give me your hand."

He gently holds Yancy hand and slips the ring onto her finger. Then Yancy suddenly remembers something, she opens her bag and hands Nate a white box with a red bow.

"This is for you."

Confused, Nate grabs the box and sits up "What is it?"

"J-Just open it!"

As Nate undoes the bow, Yancy's heart start to race. Nate pulls out the object.

"A teddy bear?"

He could see Yancy's eyes dart towards the bear's back. He flips the bear over and sees two white sticks, both of them had a little screen that had two pink lines. It took Nate a bit to figure out what he was looking at, then all of a sudden it hits him, hard. He looks at Yancy.

"Is this real?"

Yancy, not able to meet his eyes, nods "Are you mad?"

"Mad?" Nate lets out a loud laugh and bear hugs Yancy "Mad!? How can I be mad? This is amazing news!"

There are tears in her eyes "Really?"

"Yes! Even though it wasn't planned, how can I ever be mad? I love you! I-I can't even contain m-my excitement!"

Yancy laughs and hugs Nate "Who would have thought that we both decided to do this today?"

Nate grins and cupped her face "Maybe because you're my soulmate?"

Yancy giggles at the reference to the contest that was held nearly six years ago "Right, soulmates."

He leaned in and kissed her, the world then became a distant memory. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words could never describe. His hand rested below her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek as their breaths mingled. She ran her fingers through his hair, pulling him closer until there was no space left between them and she could feel the beating of his heart against her chest.

Epilogue

"Honey! Hurry up! Or you'll be late!"

"I'm coming! I'm coming!"

Nate comes down the stairs while putting on his jacket, he then trips and nearly lands face first into the ground. Then the sounds of laughter fills the house.

Nate grins "Ya little rascals! Don't laugh at daddy!"

At the table, sat two little kids, one boy and one girl. They both had the same hair color as their father, but had the same soft cornflower blue eyes as their mother. Yancy walks towards Nate and starts to straight out his messy shirt and hair while tying his tie.

"Nate, you're a mess!"

He places a kiss on her forehead "Good morning to you too."

A small blush forms on her cheeks "G-Good morning."

Even after all these years of being together, she still blushes. I love it.

Then Nate feels something pull on his belt, he looks down to see his daughter holding the poke ball that Archeops is in.

"Come on! We're going to be late for school!"

"Go on outside, I'll meet you two outside."

The two kids run outside, Nate looks at Yancy and tucks some loose hair behind her ear.

"Thanks for taking the morning shift."

She smiles and leans into his hand "Thanks for taking the night shift."

He kisses her forehead once again "Always."

"Dad!" the twins yelled in unison.

Yancy giggled "Looks like you have to get going."

Nate sighs "I wish I could stay."

He grabs a piece of toast and starts to make his way to the open door.

"Nate!"

Nate turns around to see his wife "What is it honey?"

Yancy grabs his tie and yanks him down, connecting their lips into a heated kiss catching her husband off guard and before he could react, she pulls away and whispers into his ear.

"How about you just let Archeops take the kids to school and we both call in sick from work and just spend the day at home? Together."

Nate gulped, that suggestion sounded too good for him to say no. Then he was suddenly was off the ground, Archeops had picked him up by the collar.

"A-Archeops! Put me down!"

Archeops didn't comply and threw Nate over its shoulder, next to the kids.

The twins waved "Bye mom!"

Yancy laughed and waved back "Bye!"

Archeops took off into the sky, flying towards the Pokemon school. Nate grumbled some inappropriate words as he rubbed his head. Then his X-transceiver beeped, he opened his messages.

I love you.

Nate smiled and quickly typed his response.

I love you too.

I would like to thank the people who have stuck around with me since the start of this story and also the people who have just read the story. Thank you for dealing with me not updating for a long time and for expressing your concern. I regrettably must say that this is going to be the last chapter of Nate's Soulmate, but I may come back with a mini series. In the mean time, leave some suggestions on what the twin's names should be, you can also give a description on what their personalities should be. Once again thank you, hopefully you'll see me again in the near future. Here's to a new year.
