 Author has written 11 stories for Phantom of the Opera. Writing was my passion for many years, but after a number of setbacks in getting published, I developed a severe case of writer's block that has lasted 20 years. I was also a fan of musical theater and studied voice and acting for many years. The complete story is too long to relate, but I never saw POTO when it was first produced, nor did I see it for the other 30 years it had been in existence around the world. A friend of mine introduced me to it obliquely with the video of Ramin Karimloo singing Till I Hear You Sing Again. I fell in love with his voice and began my search of all things Phantom, ultimately buying the DVD of POTO25. As with everyone here, I became inspired by the characters as defined by Andrew Lloyd Webber, but after reading some of Susan Kay's PHANTOM and the original by Gaston Leroux, I saw certain things added and removed that I wanted to "fix" or change in some way. So I bit the bullet and signed up here and began writing again. 7/12/19 - It has been a while since I wrote this profile and a lot of words have gone from my mind to the keyboard. It never occurred to me that a one-shot would turn into 3 (at this point) multi-chapter stories that combine POTO with my love of mysteries. The story of Erik and Christine started in A Gift from the Past continues through two other phics, each having a new mystery for Erik to solve. There are several one-shots and a selection of short pieces as well. Who knew? 1/3/20 - Doing some fine tuning on Chapter 10 of my second LND phic. This will be, according to a rough count I did the other day, my 87th chapter/one-shot. Not only am I surprised at my own productivity. I could never have imagined this two years ago. What I also find amazing is the productivity of other writers who are in love with the characters of POTO. The variety of stories - angst, comedy, romance, fluff and smut - hardcore and M minus. I'm in the latter category. I wonder what Leroux would think if he were to read some of the stories his Erik inspired. Happy New Year, everyone. Thanks for stopping by. |
