I support the Guild of People Who Think Forde's Related to Edward Elric (GOPWTFRTEE) for some reason.

UTAC Section

It's a dead story. But it helps to keep up old information about it.

When I began UTAC (way before Radiant Dawn was out or even named), I was able to read and write the ancient language, known otherwise as the Old Tongue of Tellius. A lot of research went into Path of Radiance for UTAC.

For map/area locations, I used the map here. The rest of the website it pretty useful too, this is where I learned to read and write galdr.
Being able to read the ancient language, I was able to decipher some of the names on the map for use in the story.

I mention characters that have been mentioned in Path of Radiance. (Silok, orphan of Marquess Katol if I interpreted the speech right.) Whether or not I included them was more based upon improvisation.

As I should have mentioned times before, I bore a complicated idea of worlds, characters, and their creator(s). I think upon fanworlds as worlds that are simply mirrors of the original (Fire Emblem fanfictions being mirrors of the original Fire Emblem world) so that they're separate from what happens in the original. But this should come naturally to most of you.

I had this thing for separate worlds or parallel dimensions or universes. I treated roleplays the same way. I gave my characters certain names – my original characters might keep their names or be given aliases if the name is a reused one, and characters I take from original worlds (Zelda, Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem) were given aliases.

This is no longer in effect. The UTAC cast would normally have aliases, but multiple roleplay and such has died for me. There is less variation in the OOC realm, and thereby less need to assign names to differentiate similarly-named or similarly-based characters.
