Meh.

You know the drill: adult male who watches too many cartoons. Goes online in secret to write fanfic. Will flatly deny it if you ever caught him in public, but spends an ungodly amount of time online crafting excessively overwritten yarns about copy-written characters in the dead of night while everyone normal is asleep.

Shameful. Secretly shameful.

Ah yes, currently I am working on my first (and probably last) epic piece of fan fiction, set in my own version of the Kim Possible universe, which diverges at the end of season four. I may make the odd KP short-story that is unrelated to the larger saga (I've been thinking of writing my own little KIGO, since I am not immune to the charming idea of those two adversaries putting aside their differences... so to speak). But... I have no plans to introduce any major KIGO into the larger SecretShame Saga. Just so you know, if that is all you care to read about (of which I do not blame you for).

As with many first-time and/or lazy FanFic writers, I have introduced my own characters into the world to fulfill certain roles. Some completely unnecessary, had I the honest drive to adapt the myriad of colourful existing ones to meet my narrative. But honestly, I just had a couple characters I imagined in this universe that I wanted to toss in there to really mess sh*t up. One in particular, who my skirt the boundaries of a Mary Sue situation, but I am working really hard to make him deeply, fundamentally flawed. Looking back at the start of the Saga, I can see where he checks off a few too many of the Mary Sue boxes right off the bat. Rookie moves, admittedly. All I can offer is to be patient, as I am trying to actively steer that ship into an interesting and satisfying direction.

2017 Update: Wow. It's been 10 years. A lot has changed in my life, but I am debating picking up writing fanfic again, if only to finish the couple stories I put so much work into starting. I figure this will be the closest thing I will get to ever writing a novel, which is something I would love to actually attempt one day. The idea of starting from scratch in my own universe, with my own characters is a paralyzing prospect. Which I guess is what is so appealing about messing up pre-baked characters. It's a nice lazy way to write something epic without the work of world-building. Again, not as a dig at those who fanfic and do so for many different reasons. To each his own. I can only comment on my own mindset.

Still, if you are reading this (and I have no reason to believe you are not) you are not here for me. You're here for bonkers fanfic. I'll see what I can do...
