Story updates are a bit slow these days. Nothing is abandoned. I've just got work, a novel, two full-length fanfics and three in-progress mods competing for the same resources, namely time. Thanks for being patient!

When I was a child and hopelessly hooked on The Lord of the Rings, I thought that I might one day become a writer. I suppose that I have, sort of. I do write, after all. I thought, type something up, mail it out to a few publishers until one of them bites (back then, people still used typewriters and the postal service), and eventually, I'd start seeing my books in the bargain bin at the bookstore (there were bookstores back then, too) along with riveting titles such as 101 Squid Recipes and Landscaping with Brassicas. Now, I'm pretty much convinced that is not going to happen, but with any luck, something I write will prove more entertaining than a root canal.

For the record, I don't approve of censorship. I try to abide by the rules, but it's the principle of the thing. When we start thinking that it's OK to place limits on the creativity of others or that we are somehow superior because we belong to one clique or another, it's the collective whole that suffers. Maybe the world will be a better place if that random songfic doesn't get published. Don't know. Not even entirely sure what a songfic is. But I do know that things worked just fine before the self-appointed crusaders came along, and they'll work just fine once they're gone. People will read what they want to read. If it's crap, it deserves to be ignored and people will ignore it. It doesn't need a fleet of wanna-be's posting a lot of rubbish to be noticed. Then again, children will have their fun, and some people will do anything to have their name in lights. Maybe that's what it takes to feel validated. Me, I'll just keep my head down and write. Real life allows few enough opportunities for simple pleasures. Here's to hoping the world will be a more tolerant place tomorrow.
