Author has written 7 stories for Warcraft. Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. - William Wordsworth To all beginning writers, I would say you must write - write every moment you can. It doesn't matter what you choose as your topic. Your story will answer when you've called it by its "write" name. I've taken up writing again after abandoning it for twenty years. My first story, Redemption, was started in February 2009 and was quite a learning experience. In my travels I had some great advice and guidance from GhostCrowe of the Hortorian forums and Vromrig of Vromrigrad for which I'm very grateful. Redemption, a 34,000 word manuscript, is finished and all the chapters are uploaded. It does need more work but I feel it's better to leave that for another time. When I re-read it, I hear Aengeal speaking and I'm afraid that if I edit it, as in like right now I'm "hearing" Colin MacConnick speak (April 2012), I would be using another character's voice to do so and that would ruin the story. Thief is now finished. Time will tell when I'm ready to step away from it. Thief updates: Page 40-05.09.2012, Jan-Feb 2013: did more on the chapter where the white horse first appears. Page 41 updated April 24, 2013 Page 44 updated May 31, 2013 Pages 7 and 8 updated July 16, 2014 Virtue (work in progress) - I did a compression of pages/chapters and started a re-write of some of them. Chapter 3: 02.13.13 - added 400 words. I was never happy with that chapter and it took me a while to figure out what was wrong about it. Profile edit 01.12.2012: I've discovered how blind I can be while writing out a story, even though I know almost everything about it. I say "almost" because I have been surprised on many occasions, wondering where did a certain event or character suddenly come from. One example is the white horse in Thief. While I was writing Thief I had a dream where someone was yelling at a man who would one day be named after my rogue to stand down - "The Stocks or the grave, MacCoinnick - your choice!" That's where Virtue began and I had little else to go on for almost a year. I've also learned how valuable constructive criticism is. Please feel free to leave comments and suggestions. I'd like to hear what you think of my writing. |
