Author has written 9 stories for StarTrek: Voyager, Star Wars, Mass Effect, Rizzoli & Isles, and 100. Have I never put anything in this? Huh... Anyway, I got into writing thanks to the wonderful writers on this site as well as the Yahoo Groups VJB Forum. Alas, since I've been enrolled in ATC training, my brain simply refuses to be creative in terms of fanfiction so all my fics are on hold at the moment. I do get to still read a couple here and there of the many that I follow and I do my best to leave reviews as much as possible because I truly belive it is so worth it in terms of encouragement for a writer to read any kind of response to their work so long as it is at least constructive. So, I encourage all readers to leave reviews if possible, while we don't write to get reviews, they certainly can bring a smile to a writer's face and that's never a bad thing. I guess people put their "ships" here too. My big five are: Star Trek Voyager- B'Elanna/Seven (Google "She Who Hesitates is Lost" by Lisa Countryman and read it, seriously, forget reading the rest of this and do it. It's way better than anything I'll produce below. Or ever.) Rizzoli & Isles- Jane/Maura (duh) ("Interference" by snuffnyc is what I picture the show could have been if it were on HBO with some really fearless actressess. The "Calamity Jane" AU fics by JoBethMegAmy... are phenominal.) Mass Effect- FemShep/Liara (Too many fantastic fics here. "A Thessian's Whisper" and "The Shepardess and the Questing Beast" are highly reccomended for the really 'real' feel to the universe and the creative cultural distinctions the author weaves into their world.) Terminator TSCC- Cameron/Sarah (RedHope has done some amazing AU here.) KOTOR- FemRevan/Bastila (Atruya's "Grey Lord of the Sith" and E.Carter's "Jedi Secrets" are amazing.) I also enjoy: Mass Effect- MaleShep/Jack & MaleShep/Liara - FemShep/Miranda (I miss AlexisBlade's "The Bringer of Destruction" :( ) - Miranda/Jack - FemShep/Samara (Really only "Who Saves the Hero?" by Kudara Dragon Age- MaleCousland/Anora ("Corin" by Isabeau of Grenlea is one of my favs) - FemCousland/Tabris/Mahairel and Lelianna or Morrigan - Lelianna/Morrigan (there are some really interesting fics for this one) - FemHawke or MaleHawke and Merrill Star Trek Enterprise- T'Pol/Hoshi There's the odd crossover and such that I've enjoyed. I'm still hoping someone will write a really in-depth Cade Skywalker/Darth Talon story. I think that in the comics that was a wasted opportunity to do some really interesting and dramatic character work. Finally, I am no perfect writer- this I know, but there are a few small and very simple things I'd love for more writers to be conscious of: The proper use of: - your/you're - of/off - were/we're - their/there/they're - than/then - to/too - its/it's - Proper punctuation, paragraphs, basic structure (there are the occasional 'stage play' written stories that are simply incredibly difficult to read) Anyway, keep on reading or writing or doing both if that is your thing! |
