![]() Author has written 9 stories for Dredd. Notes about my "Dredd" FanFic; Years ago - like, 20 years ago - I wrote my first fanfic, a novel based on the Judge Dredd comics. It was an Anderson / OC romance, and while it contained some cool elements, it was a dreadful Gary-Stu story, with all the problems associated with such a thing. I lost it and almost forgot about it. Then, I saw he 2012 Dredd movie and was very impressed by it. I was inspired to write a one-shot "after the movie" fic - that fanfic is "Assessment Over". Because the fandom is so small here, I made it my mission to read and review every single Dredd fic on the site. A review for each chapter of each fic. It's coming along. If you have Dredd stories, they will get reviewed . . . how about returning the favor? :) I really like Mega City One as a setting, both the comics and the movies. I think it is a clever setting, with cool characters, and lots of opportunity to tell a lot of different stories. So, I have started (inspired by some of the characters from my ancient, bad fanfic) to write my own series of "Dredd" stories which link together to tell some of the tales of Mega City One. They aren't, really, stories about Judge Dredd - but they are "Judge Dredd" stories (that will make sense to people who read the comic books - very often, those are "tales of Mega City One" before they are stories about Joe Dredd). So, if you are interested in following my tales of Cassandra Anderson, John Cornelius, Jackie Quartermain, Nicky Betancourt and others, here is the chronology; "Dredd 3D" the movie - obviously, this is the starting point for the whole thing, and is perfectly canonical. I have given it the date of Spring 2099. "Assessment Over" (takes place immediately after "Dredd 3D") "Dredd 2" by aaron.92 (dialog dates it less than a year later - my fanon is late Dec 2099) - this isn't my story, but it is brilliant. I consider it canonical for my stories. "Aegis" (takes place over a year after "Dredd 2" and pretty much two years after "Dredd 3D"; specific dates are 24 to 26 March 2101) "Flash The Bronze" (takes place five months after "Aegis"; mid-to-late August 2101) "Gunpowder & Lead" (takes place immediately after "Flash The Bronze"; the same day) "Highway Don't Care" (takes place the day after "Flash The Bronze" and "Gunpowder & Lead") "Shakedown The Dream" (takes place the same evening as "Highway Don't Care") "Bee-Movie" (takes place shortly after "Shakedown the Dream" - early September 2101) "Angel's Mercy" (late September 2101)Further stories will follow - mostly, they will be "Aegis" fics as the crew deals with psychic crimes in Mega City One and elsewhere. I am hoping to make this series an ensemble, procedural drama kind of thing - inspired by stuff like NCIS, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hawaii 5-O and those kind of things. Basically, a group of characters dealing with problems with overarching plots which are gradually revealed, during which time they have personal dramas etc. I do want to address "The Day The Law Died" and even the Judge Death storylines, too - hopefully, you'll be able to see the little plot hooks I am putting in there throughout the stories! So, my Dredd fics aren't really perfectly "stand alone" - they rely on a setting being understood. I do hope people like this and that people want to give feedback so I can better tailor what I am writing. If you are interested in seeing "inspiration sheets" of photographs, comic panels, drawings etc. I have put together of various characters, objects and settings in my fanon setting, check out my DeviantArt page thepsifiles [dot] deviantart [dot] com (wretched rules that strip URLs out of profiles!) "The Return of Rico" sits apart from the above stories. It is set in the same fanon universe as them, but isn't directly connected with the larger narrative of them. It was my "this is a fun distraction" project. Please note: This story is rated 'M' and contains elements of sexual violence. This starts exactly a year after Dredd 3D (the movie) Thanks for reading - and, if you can, please review and make comments. It is only way I can understand how to make stories better. Sometimes, people ask my why I write stories set in fantastic worlds, childish stories, that sort of thing. My answer was written before I was born; At the four corners of a child's bed stand Perseus and Roland, Sigurd and St. George. G.K.Chesterton If you agree with me, I am sure neither Chesterton nor I will mind you borrowing our words. |
