Superhero AU oneshot written for jily trope fest. Here are the Order of the Phoenix heroes who spend most of their break time in the isolated Room 78-H: Lily, healer. Sirius, telekinetic. James has a deck of knife cards—that, and a never-failing aim. Peter can detect a lie in an instant. Remus... Well, you'll find out in two weeks.

"James leans in. Lily hears the script crumple in his hands, but she doesn't look to check. His lips touch the corner of hers, a hand coming up to cup her face. He is moving. So. Maddeningly. Slow... She curses in her head, makes up about a hundred thousand excuses for the next second—and then grabs him down by the back of his neck and kisses him fully, desperately, fervidly." AU.

Jilytober 2015 prompt: James and Lily (and Harry) survive October 31st, 1981.

Prompt: Lily gets flak for dating James and gets sucked in to the belief that he's better off without her. She tells him she doesn't love him anymore, and after a while, she manages to make him believe the lie.

She needs him, needs a lot of things; needs to inspect his head for herself and make sure he didn't crack it open, because he's an idiot. She needs to apologize and berate, needs to trace his jaw with her fingertips, unearth the seasons in his eyes, taste his Quidditch-sky-laden lips.

She smiles at him, warm and wide, and James is amazed at how massive of a moron Terrence is for letting something like that get away.

James doesn't want to be (just) a friend. Lily misunderstands.

He has never seen her this drunk before, and he's not sure if he's more amused or worried about it.

Maybe he'll get that porch thing. You know; rocking chairs, white flimsy hair, the beach maybe. She'll be wearing glasses too, and he'll tease her endlessly about it, but there'll be nothing more he adores in the world... The porch thing. He and Lily have always called it the porch thing.

James and Lily brew Amortentia together—and nothing happens. Lily thinks she's officially gone forever numb, James thinks the dungeons smell like a swamp, and everyone concludes they're both idiots. Everybody's daft in love.

AU. On Halloween of 1981, only one member of the Potter family survives the attack at Godric's Hollow. And it's not Harry.

He watches the fire some more. It warms the drafty breeze wafting in, unwelcome, from all directions. It dances gracefully, lights up the room—the ultimate antithesis of what has become of him, what little living soul he can still feel in him left, after seeing the lifeless forms of his best friends in the world.

"We'll be alright, Lily," he tells her, never mind that his voice is hoarse. He strokes her hair comfortingly with his other hand. He can feel her tears on his shirt, he can feel her shoulders shudder, and it breaks his heart.

James wields a wand for the first time. Lily giggles, euphoric and carefree and on top of the world. Sirius stands up and slams the door to shut his younger brother out. Peter sighs and goes back down to his room to the sound of his mum calling. And Remus screams, raw and screeching and painfully young. (One-shot; Lily and the Marauders as children)

They all found themselves playing in the rain outside, Harry on James's shoulders, Lily holding an umbrella over them (with her wand, for her husband was tall, good Merlin), and the three other marauders drenched wet in the yard, determined to make a show for James's laughing little boy with two Quaffles and mediocre acting skills. Right now you're a mass of giggles and tangled limbs and flailing fabrics on starkissed grass. He doesn't get up at once, the prat. He laughs and wraps his arms around you, kisses you on the lips once, twice, forever. JPLE one-shot.
