Six months after Valjean rescues Javert from the Seine, Javert realizes he is happily in love with the man and their new life together. However, after decades of repressing some of his more base desires, he feel he cannot help himself anymore, and desires punishment for the hell he inflicted on Valjean in their past.

M. Madeleine uses his superhuman strength to protect Javert after an arrest goes wrong, and Javert struggles with his admiration for the mayor.
