Silence lay over the old, proud houses of Grimmauld Place. People were either away over the school holidays, or inside avoiding the heat. The only people left outdoors were a couple - the man tall, the woman pink-haired - who were standing in the park opposite Number 12, throwing sticks to a pair of large black dogs. It was still called the "Noble and Most Ancient House of Black", though it had been years since any of the Blacks that approved of that name had lived there. The door opened. Remus stepped out in his pyjama pants, rubbing his damp hair with a towel. He looked up at Peter, who was chewing his fingernails in anticipation, and at James and Sirius who - upon reflection, James realised - must have been looking extremely guilty. "All right," Remus said, dropping the towel on his closed trunk. "What did you do?"

Who'd have thought that the man who tore them apart was the one who brought them together? Head Girl Lily Evans is determined to keep her distance from the Marauders but that's easier said than done when James is Head Boy and in love with her.
