What if Gone With the Wind had stuck to its perfection? If Ellen hadn't died, if Gerald hadn't died, if Melanie hadn't died, if Bonnie hadn't died, if Rhett hadn't left Scarlett, if Scarlett had only just understood Rhett, if the Old South weren't stuck in a great anal of history known as the Antebellum era?

If! If! If!

But, what happened happened, and there's no taking it back. There is only to move on from the past - not to become lost in it like so many others.

And, out of the Old South's ashes, rose a new generation - a better one. Only until after I finished Gone With the Wind did I realize that Scarlett O'Hara's character represented this new generation of fighters - of survivors.

Be that new generation; it a way, it is beyond better.
