I've been trying to figure out what I should write here for a while... I hope this is what you want to know:

I first read The Hobbit in middle school, and devoured The Lord of the Rings soon after. Tolkien's world was exactly what I was looking for, having been raised with the fantasies of Narnia, King Arthur, Lloyd Alexander, and Brian Jacques (to name but a few). Then, Peter Jackson's movie trilogy took the world by surprise, and I must admit, carried me away right along with everybody else. I loved the stunning landscapes of New Zealand, the beautiful music, and the amazing attention to detail in the costumes and settings. I think I let my sense for the aesthetic overrule my love of the mythology in the first place.

Many years after writing my first fic on this site, I am back! Hopefully, my writing and ideas have improved since then. I am very dedicated to canon, and so don't expect to find movie verse within my stories. I am still learning about Tolkien's world, so if you find mistakes, please do not hesitate to correct me! I do not write slash. If you read what I write and like what you read, PLEASE review!!! Think about the excitement you sometimes feel when you discover a new story that you like or see that a favorite author has finally updated a particular story. Well, this is the best comparison I can draw to the excitement an author feels at receiving a review. Even one sentence will make my day!

Finally, I want to provide a quote of Tolkien's I recently discovered. I think he anticipated fanfiction, so full steam ahead, people. This is from a letter Tolkien wrote in 1951 to his friend, Milton Waldman, and I think can be found in most Prefaces to The Silmarillion. Tolkien is discussing what he wanted to achieve in the tales of his mythological creation.

"I would draw some of the great tales in fullness, and leave many only placed in the scheme, and sketched. The cycles should be linked to a majestic whole, and yet leave scope for other minds and hands, wielding paint and music and drama."
