Author has written 43 stories for Lord of the Rings, StarTrek: The Original Series, Hobbit, Sundered, Gill Moran, Pride, 2014, and Robin Hood BBC. Update I once promised to never leave a story unfinished, and that still holds. I mention it because someone has asked about one of my stories, if it will be finished... it will. This year, circumstances have combined to make me time-poor and pain-rich, so when I do have a free hour, and I'm able to move, the time's usually gone in catching up... things are a little better at present, and I will do my best to continue and complete my works in progress. Currently the focus is Glorfindel's Last Hurrah, but there will be updates on Lindir's Tale and Chasing Ships at some point. Again, I'm sorry for the long delays. Another point:If someone reviews anonymously, I can't respond, not even to say thank you. So bear this in mind; I'm not ignoring you, it's just not possible for me to reply... Back to the bio... Happily married empty nester. My previous forays into the realms of fan fiction were in the days before the internet when I wrote a few Star Trek TOS stories for UK 'zines and a random Columbo/Highlander crossover (which was published in a 'zine in the US). I then set zine fiction aside to write original stories and characters and I now have a novel for sale on Amazon under my real name - which I won't promote here as that's not why I joined this site. I'm a published poet, in a small way, and one of my proudest moments was learning I had two poems in an anthology alongside work by JRR Tolkien. Having recently been (re)introduced to fanfic by a friend, I'm about to take the plunge and add my own morsels here to the banquet of Middle Earth fan fiction.. Concerning Slash... Don't worry, it's not going to be a rant. But increasingly, I see people in their profiles saying they will not, under any circumstances, read such material. And that is absolutely fine. What isn't fine is when hate language is used concerning same-gender couples. This has been going on between consenting couples for thousands of years now, and to ignore it completely is to pretend you live in a world that has never existed. I don't write to shock, or upset, I'm interested in people and why they pair off. Not all of my stories have same-gender couples; it's not always appropriate and sometimes, they are there, very present, but behave with great decorum. With the best will in the world, not every couple, whatever their orientation, has the energy to be at it 24/7. Not even elves. I will always inform if there is adult content present, but please, let's have a little tolerance, shall we? Note: Please DO NOT post hate mail under the guise of reviews. Any such 'reviews' will be reported to FanFiction as soon as I notice them. I will never write Mary Sues; there are much more interesting characters to write than versions of me, honestly... The Starlight Gemstone Universe Stories In chronological order, as much as possible. Hopefully the stories stand alone as well as hang together. ‘Better than Flying Through Trees’ Where it Doesn’t Show Elk, with Extras (fits after Chapter 137 in WiDS) Glorfindel’s Yules (when Glorfindel and Ness return to the palace after seeing Iauron and Tharmeduil to their ship, 380 or thereabouts) 'How I Met Your Mother' (Thranduil talks to Legolas one Night of the Names after WiDS) ‘A Present from Bilbo’ (After the Battle of the Five Armies) Mightier Than the Sword (an Aragorn story) A Proof of Love (mostly Arwen) The Dangers Arising FromTravelling With Hobbits (the Quest of the Ring and feat. Legolas) Fast Friends (the Quest of the Ring and feat, Legolas) Thranduil’s Ark (set during the Quest of the Ring; Thranduil tries to protect the heart of his forest) The End of the World as We Know It (New Year, after the War of the Ring) Until the World Fade Away (on the night of Aragorn’s wedding, Legolas pines for his spouse) Glorfindel’s Rivendell Revelries (set after the War of the Ring and feat. Triwathon, Arveldir and Erestor) The Gift - Complete at just under 8000 words, this is the story of a woman who got more than she bargained for one birthday. Featuring Lindir. Lindir's Tale - A side-by-side to 'The Gift', essentially the same story told from Lindir's perspective, but it doesn't matter if you haven't read 'The Gift' or indeed, if you never read it. Still a work in progress and spanning beyond 'Karma', chronologically speaking. Karma (when Elrond sails) Nanas and Adas (Thiriston and Canadion) The Last Ship Ever Where it Doesn't Show - a many chaptered work focussed on Thranduil and his family and with additional support from Elrond and Arwen. And, yes, there is a human woman. No, it isn't a self insert or a Mary Sue... she's really a very minor character, used as a metaphor for the misunderstandings between humans and elves. Contains graphic descriptions of spiders and extreme spider jeopardy. Running to over 850,000 words, it's more of a serialisation than anything, but has drawn to a close for the moment. Other works in the Starlight Gemstone series are waiting to be written. The Kovalia Series The Gift - Complete at just under 8000 words, this is the story of a woman who got more than she bargained for one birthday. Featuring Lindir. Lindir's Tale - A side-by-side to 'The Gift', essentially the same story told from Lindir's perspective, but it doesn't matter if you haven't read 'The Gift' or indeed, if you never read it. Please note: while I make every effort to make sure my use of language is correct, I am English, using English interpretations. I am friends with the Oxford Comma. I have not yet learned Sindar and appreciate constructive comments; I do not mind being corrected - which means feel free to tell me I'm wrong providing you can prove it and explain why. The vagaries of Elvish names are many; if Tolkien had stuck to his own rules, then Celeborn would be known as Teleporn instead. |
