Don'ts of Fanfiction:

1. Don't summarize your story in your title. That's what the summary is for.

2. Don't say that you'll hook the reader. You're guaranteed not to hook someone.

3. Don't say anything along the lines of: "This story is good." or "It's better than it sounds." It's a sign that you might think more highly of your story than is actually warranted.

4. Don't say anything along the lines of: "This is my first fanfiction, so don't be harsh." For one, the words "my first fanfiction" tends to lead people to expect poor writing quality, and therefore it turns them away, whereas if you didn't say anything, they might have read. Second, if you can't take criticism, don't post your story on a website where people can critique it.

5. Don't say anything along the lines of: "I suck at summaries." Work on your summary before posting the story, or ask for help.

6. Do NOT, for the love of GOD, say "I know this story sucks." If you know it sucks, why did you post it, instead of banishing it to the Recycle Bin?
