Author has written 14 stories for Rio, Little Mermaid, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain Marvel.

Hey, I'm Sorrel. Before we begin, please do not use any of my fan-made characters for your own stories, thank you (Sorry for that adrupt start; I recently revamped/removed the profile intro so it was less boring).

2019 update: if you regularly read my profile you'll remember all the unnecessary and over analysed details about the inner workings of my stories and writing. I'm just in the process of cutting all the boring stuf out.

Below is a summary of what I've written on here, a bit of trivia for those who are interested. I've written some full stories on The Little Mermaid and Rio, and some one shots on the MCU as well as a full story that is currently in progress.

Warning: My main stories are more mature and a lot (and I mean a lot) darker than the canon movies they are based on, so they are definitely unsuitable for the young audiences that would be watching the canon movies. That's why they're mostly rated T. For example, many of my stories from The Little Mermaid and Rio (yes, even that) deal with violence, death, trauma, mental illness, along with other adult themes.

MCU: one shots and 'Remember Me'

I currently have one in progress story and five one-shots on the MCU, most of which centre on Scarlet Witch and Vision. Two one shots are on the guardians, and one on Captain Marvel. All (except for Captain Marvel and the full story) were written before Endgame, so they only acknowledge the events of Infinity War as fix its.

"Remember Me"

Theme song: Can't Help Falling in Love with You (Tommee Profitt ft. Brooke)

A full story that I am currently writing. It's set a few months after Endgame, where Wanda is struggling to return to normality and is trying to move on from her grief. However, she discovers that Vision is alive, albeit under the control of a mysterious organisation and with no memory, and her attempt to free him and help him remember who he is. I'd love it if you checked it out.

One shots (warning - these fix-its, especially the Wanda and Vision ones, are so overly sweet and full of fluff you might get tooth decay)

  1. "Little Miracle" is my favourite, a fix-it set after they're both brought back to life. Expecting the twins, Wanda reminisces her reunion and marriage to Vision, before comforting him after a nightmare about what happened in IW. It's one of the sweetest things I've ever written.
  2. "Memory Box" is linked to 'Little Miracle '. Set after the twins are born, Wanda opens her and Vision's memory box, when a dried Wakandan flower stirs her memory of when she was grieving. It's an extension of the reunion scene in LM, detailing the process of how Vision is restored and their being reunited.
  3. "Just Hold Me" shows their first meet up (in Paris because romance) following the raft breakout. Wanda tries to conceal her injuries and how much the prison really affected her, but Vision eventually finds out. Like "Little Miracle" there's a nightmare scene too, only it's the other way round, with Vision comforting Wanda. It's full of hints to their romantic feelings, as it's set just before they become a couple.
  4. "More than Anything" is set after the guardians are restored and Gamora freed from the soul stone. Gamora suffers recurring nightmares and she is not alone, as Peter has disappeared in the middle of the night. On her way to find him, she thinks about how much Thanos had damaged her and Nebula, and how she and the guardians are struggling to move on.
  5. "Fly Me to the Moon" is set in the early eighties, centering on Carol and Maria's friendship. They await the birth of Monica, talking about Maria's fears about being a single mother, and Carol's strained relationship with her neglectful and mentally abusive parents. They discuss their struggles as women, and their promise for Monica to grow up in a world that believes women can achieve anything.

The Little Mermaid

One of my all-time favourite 'older' Disney movies. Like with my other stories, they're rated 'T' for darker and more serious themes and tones, including violence. They're more young adult than Disney. Both of them are based on Melody, who, after turning eighteen, decided to go back into the sea. The first one, 'Melody of the Ocean', centres on Melody following her journey to stop an ocean war while struggling with her feelings for Finn, a deserter of the warring kingdom. The sequel, 'Ocean of Darkness' picks up a year later where Melody and her friends are tasked with transporting a dangerous artefact, all while evading dark forces who are after it. While the first is a romance and about war, the sequel is about conflict and friendship.

Trivia

  1. Queen Nia's mocking nickname, 'the seacow', is an actual animal, an extinct species related to the dugong.
  2. I'm 80% sure that I've gotten the age order of Ariel's sisters wrong.
  3. The Abraxia stone was originally going to be a flower, although I realized it's not the first time I've had a flower maguffin (The Estrella) so I went with a gemstone. Unfortunately this means it's also a bit too similar to a particular film that came out in April 2018 about magic stones... whoops. Basing the names of two of Lysidus' henchmen after members of the Black Order probably didn't help either. In retrospect I should have gone with a different object or a piece of jewerly when I first chose the form the artefact would take way back in 2017. I didn't anticipate how too on-the-nose familiar this would turn out.
  4. Lysidus placing his soul into the stone was inspired by horcruxes in the Harry Potter series, although he did this in hope of gaining it's abilities and not for immortality.
  5. Ontari was originally going to be the villain of Ocean of Darkness, but I figured it was a bit repetitive because my other LM story (as well as all the movies) have had a female villain. Plus her motive would have been rather generic.
  6. The reason Tip and Dash aren't in my fanfics is because I honestly don't like them and that 'comical sidekick duo' cliche. They're mentioned a couple of times and make a brief appearance at the end of MotO to appease those who like the characters. Also they really don't fit the darker tones and themes I have going, and four main characters is enough as it is.
  7. I've only recently remembered that Lysidus initially had a poisoned metal claw that I forgot about after his first use of it. Whoops. That sure would have helped him in the climax.

So, I can't decide on a single song for both the original and sequel. So here's a 'soundtrack', if you will.

Melody of the Ocean

  1. 'Live like Legends' by Ruelle
  2. 'Unstoppable' by Sia
  3. 'Human' by Christina Perri
  4. 'I Shall Rise' by Karen O
  5. 'Wicked Game' by Ursine Vulpine
  6. 'Power of Love' by Gabrielle Aplin

Ocean of Darkness

  1. 'Warrior (Black and Blue)' by Paloma Faith
  2. 'Keeping Your Head Up' by Birdy
  3. 'Never Go Back' (Synthesis) by Evanescene
  4. 'Game of Survival' by Ruelle
  5. 'Dead in the Water' by Ellie Goulding
  6. 'Helium' by Sia
  7. 'To be Human' by Sia

Rio

(Note; while I liked the first Rio, I wasn't impressed with the second one and to be honest even the first one isn't on my list of favourite animations anymore. You'd think the opposite considering all but two of my stories are on Rio, but the real reason why I've done fanfics on this series so much is because I love writing from animal perspectives, especially birds, and I've fallen in love with some of my OC characters).

These stories are mostly rated 'T' because of occasional violence, serious and mature themes like mental illnesses, descriptions of sometimes severe wounding and occasionally deaths. They're definitely unsuitable for younger fans of the movies due to the sometimes graphic content. Weird, I know, but these were written a long time ago. I've got six interconnected Rio stories, two prequels and the rest are after the second movie. I'm finished with Rio now, and it's likely I won't be writing more.

I give my stories a theme song - they all connect to something in the story. Basically, these, plus my couple song choices, are the 'soundtrack' to my Rio stories. This part is arranged in chronological order in my version of the Rio continuity.

  1. Roberto's Nightmare - Theme song: Talking to the Moon (By none other than Bruno Mars)
  2. Before Rio: Days in the Amazon Sun - Theme songs: Hello (Evanescene - Jewel and Felipe's perspectives) and Speak to Me (Amy Lee - Tia's perspective).
  3. Roberto and Sophia: A Blue Rose - Theme song: Winter Bird (Aurora)
  4. The Outcast - Theme song: Boom Clap (Charli XCX)
  5. The Estrella - Theme song: Love Me Like You Do (Ellie Goulding)
  6. Alegria - Theme songs: Half the World Away (Aurora - seen from Daniella's point of view) and Lost in Paradise (Evanescence - from Emori's point of view).

Here's a fun fact - I also have theme songs for my three favourite couples, Brula (Bruno and Carla), Tiachid (Tiago and Orchid) and Azia (Azure and Bia). I've also got songs for my other important pairings, even if their situation is slightly different for obvious reasons.

  1. Carla and Bruno - Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran
  2. Tiago and Orchid - Let Me In by Grouplove
  3. Bia and Azure - Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding
  4. Rojo and Perlina - Lacrymosa by Evanescence. Fun fact - one of the last lines of the song, "My love wasn't enough", is even the last thing she says to him.
  5. Eduardo and Tia - Your Star (Synthesis) by Evanescene.
  6. Felipe and Adelaide - My Immortal by Evanescence.
  7. Felipe and Azalea - How Does a Moment Last Forever by Celine Dion.
  8. Jewel and Adelaide - See You Again (Carry On version) by Charlie Puth.
  9. Roberto and Sophia - Winter Bird by Aurora.

Rio - story and character trivia (spoiler alert)

  1. Azalea is Felipe's true love, not Adelaide. They would have ended up together regardless as to whether Adelaide survived the fire or not.
  2. Tia is the 'guardian angel'/fairy godmother character in my stories.
  3. The 'Festival of Stars' featured in Roberto and Sophia: A Blue Rose, is inspired by the Festival of Lights in Tangled. The events of the dance near the end of the chapter is also inspired by the events of the 'Enchantment Under the Sea Dance' in Back to the Future (Sadly, Azure does not stand there at the front playing the guitar).
  4. Daniella's lavender eyes and black head feathers are obviously unnatural, but I really loved the colour combination of lavender, black and bright blue (the rest of her feathers). Daniella is, so far, my favourite OC.
  5. I left Talitha's fate undetermined in RN, because I was considering bringing her back for a future story; however, I have now decided not to show her again. I'll let you guys decide her fate for yourselves, but I do like the idea of her living in another rainforest, happy with a little family of her own.
  6. I regret making Sophia go through such an ordeal in The Estrella. I was a very angsty teen when writing it, which impacted the darkness of the story.
  7. That's right, I snuck a kermit meme reference into chapter 25 of Alegria. But that's none of your business...
  8. I've interpreted Jewel and Roberto's friendship as being that of adopted siblings.
  9. I got the idea and style for the pink ribbon Emori wears from the one Esmeralda has in 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'.
  10. I think we can all agree that Isaac is my most useless side character. He only exists really because I didn't want Roberto and Sophia having the same size brood as Blu and Jewel.
  11. The title of Before Rio: Days in the Amazon Sun comes from the 'Days in the Sun' song from the live action remake of 'Beauty and the Beast'.
  12. Daniella had a fear of water because I needed a way to truly trap her on the island. Wouldn't want anyone saying in the comments, "Why doesn't she just fly away?"
  13. Some of Sophia's mentioned former love interests who 'disappeared' were actually killed by Jespa when they ignored his warnings to leave her. Looking back I could have really taken advantage of this and really worked it into a story as a twist and severe blow to Sophia as opposed to it being merely implied.
  14. Jespa was originally going to be Sophia's controlling and obsessive ex boyfriend, however I thought that this would be too dark (even for me) and out of character for Sophia to accept this treatment from a love interest. Making him her brother instead also gave him even more of a hold over her.
  15. Adelaide was in love with Jewel before she died, but I don't think anything would have become of it if Adelaide had survived, because Jewel just didn't feel the same way.
  16. The tune and lyrics of the lullaby Juanita sung to Adelaide as a child, and the song she hears in her dying moments, is inspired by a 1940s song "Its Only a Paper Moon" by Ella Fitzgerald.

Etymology of OCs, places, things, etc.

(Only the more significant and interesting ones)

Rio:

  1. Tia - short for 'Tiana', 'The Princess and the Frog'
  2. Adele - after the singer, and also Adelaide
  3. Leticia 'Leti' - 'joy' in Portuguese
  4. Kerja (pronounced Ker-jer) - 'hunter' in Javanese (that's not a spelling mistake for 'Japanese' - Javanese is from Java)
  5. Augustus, Monica and Isaac - after characters in 'The Fault in Our Stars'
  6. Bromeliad and Orchid - flowers
  7. Bruno - after Bruno Mars
  8. Mina - from 'Dracula'
  9. Emori (pronounced E-more-e), Anya, Indra - from 'The 100'
  10. Gylfie - the Guardians of Ga'Hoole books and the okay-but-not-great movie
  11. Victoria/Vicky - after one of my sisters
  12. Feliz - 'happy' in Portuguese
  13. Angelo - Adele's son
  14. Jessamyn - a variation of 'Jasmine'
  15. Kehua - 'ghost' in Maori (Ke-hue-a)
  16. Jespa - a twist on 'Jasper'
  17. Zenaida - Greek, meaning 'born of Zeus'
  18. Caesura's nickname 'Tremaine', Drizelle and Anastasiya - Lady Tremaine, Drizella and Anastasia from 'Cinderella'.
  19. Blanche, Mitch, Stella and Stanley - 'A Streetcar Named Desire'
  20. Rojo - Spanish for red
  21. Estrella (flowers) - 'star' in Portuguese

The Little Mermaid

  1. Finn - 'The 100', 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'
  2. Zafrina - from 'Twilight' (I despise Twilight but I liked the name)
  3. Nia, Ontari, baby Murphy, Otan - 'The 100'
  4. Adonis - the species of butterfly, 'Adonis blue'
  5. Narcissus, Icarus - from Greek mythology
  6. Florian - one of the rumoured names of the prince from 'Snow White'.
  7. Lysidus - a Greek name 'Lysidas'
  8. Lokia, Corva, Proximus - gender variants, after 'Loki', Corvus Glaive' and 'Proxima Midnight' from marvel
  9. Rhapsody - the song 'Bohemian Rhapsody'
  10. Circe - the goddess of magic
  11. Wundagore (place) - a mystical location from marvel comics
  12. Abraxia stone/sword (object) - a twist on 'Abraxas', the name of a demon or charm
  13. Aquademons - water adaption of 'parademons' from DC comics, because I'm terrible at thinking of creature names)
