Author has written 2 stories for Super Smash Brothers, and Star Fox.

Y'ello! I'm Lymeryk, and welcome to my FanFiction page! I'm not on here much, but I try to work on some of my story ideas whenever I can.

Speaking of which...

CURRENT PROJECTS:

#1 - "Through Fractured Time" - My first real attempt at writing and putting a story together. It's a very different, deeper, and more cinematic take on the Subspace Emissary from Super Smash Bros. Brawl with an alternate plot (hence the different part) and other characters (two OCs included), whilst covering a much broader scope as well. The origins for this story's ideas grew between my brother and I way back in early 2009 (naturally after playing Brawl a whole lot). Yet, this concept doubles as an exploration of how things like childhood curiosity and that nostalgic wonder from gaming in our youths can still affect us at an older age, even though we may not be children anymore. (STATUS: IN PROGRESS)

* Here is the story's SOUNDTRACK on YouTube for anyone interested: Sounds From Beyond The Rift.

* A QUICK NOTE ON THE SOUNDTRACK: “Through Fractured Time” is a journey, yes, but it's also a journey through music. Music that makes one feel, makes one wonder; makes one yearn. It’s exactly what I mean for representing this story’s epic yet ethereal aesthetic. The tracks are arranged in their proper order as per the story, but that's only the music I recommend to accompany a certain section. It's not limited to those in any way! I highly encourage you guys and girls to explore other tracks from the same albums that come before or after the ones listed! Thus, I hope you all find the soundtrack to be a worthwhile addition! Listening to some of my favorite artists and composers has certainly been an inspiration for me in trying to articulate this story, so I hope it can help you "see" it in the way I do...

Lastly, I apologize to those who are following the story, but progress will be slow due to being busy with life. It's also the simple fact that this is a considerably big concept in terms of the scope, so I'm just going to take my time.

#2 -Vahlok: An Elder Scrolls Story” - 20 year-old Athaeus Acteon, upon discovering his true destiny as the last Vahlok Drake Rider, is forced to take up his long-lost father’s mantel when war breaks out between the Empire of Tamriel and the Aldmeri Dominion. However, even with the war’s ferocity and grueling 4-year course, it all turns out to be a mere distraction from a larger menace that threatens the entire continent. Unlikely alliances become forged, while others are tested as a result. Powerful forces once believed to be forgotten in time re-awaken, yet above all, an ancient promise will finally be honored from a distant land across the sea, east of Tamriel...

We Follow Athaeus’ life-journey from an estranged childhood, through adolescence, and finally, his early adult years which prove to be a true “baptism by hellfire.” Spans a time period from 4E 150 to 4E 176, but the turning point of events are set primarily during The Great War of 4E 171 - 175. (STATUS: TBA)

#3 - "Reverence: An Elder Scrolls Story" - Cyrodiil, 4E 219. A young Imperial boy struggles to cope with the fractured state of his family where his mother, despite being rather naive, is very caring and tries her best to raise him to be righteous; the best person he can be in life. His father on the other hand is a hardened centurion in the Imperial Legion who has completely lost sense of the beauty of life, and suffers from excessive alcoholism in trying to wash away all the gruesome things he’s experienced in the ongoing Skyrim Civil War. After a particular night of unhinged abuse from his father, the young boy can take it no more and decides to run away from home. He meets up with a friend who also has family issues, and the two set out on a journey to try and leave their troubled lives behind for good. However, they soon cross paths with an elderly man who holds a stunning revelation that, if truly realized, would shake the Empire of Tamriel down to its very core. Little did the boys also know, that this discovery was to be the start of a life-changing adventure; one which could very well change the course of Tamriel’s future altogether. (STATUS: TBA)

This is a semi-sequel that takes place 43 years after my planned events in “Vahlok: An Elder Scrolls Story.”

Feel free to ask me about it for more details if you'd like, because both these Elder Scrolls stories are set to a "slow bake" if you will.

"MAYBE" IDEA(S) - Several Smash Bros. shorts set during the events of "Through Fractured Time" which would follow some characters not featured in the main story.

"MAYBE" IDEA #2 - Untitled "Kantai Collection" story.

(IMPORTANT) BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR "THROUGH FRACTURED TIME"

PREFACE – SOMEWHERE, OUT THERE…

* This may seem like an initial exposition overload, but it's REALLY USEFUL for understanding the whole premise in terms of the whereabouts and general setting that are EXCLUSIVE TO THIS STORY. Please trust me though; I think it'll be WELL WORTH YOUR TIME to read it. It acts as both an introduction and a helpful guide in case any reference is needed for something while reading later chapters in the story. Granted, this is NOT AT ALL limited to Super Smash Bros. lore. This could actually be considered new and expanded lore since it's set in our own universe to begin with. Still, this concept might even be the start of something new not just for my story, but for others that may follow as well... *

Music: "Baritone Recovery (Marc)"

It all resides within a prospective question: What if we weren't alone in this galaxy we all call home?

That possibility is already very likely, but what this question implies is something else. It's not a simple preconception of "aliens" that many of us would typically think of.

What if, somewhere out there among the stars unbeknownst to us, somehow exist the collective worlds we all know from Super Smash Bros... Coexisting with each other in star systems within an area on the far side of the Milky Way called Sector N.

And what if, at the same time, they never knew anything of our Solar System... Or of our own existence here on Earth?

Is it possible? Could something like that be a huge, cosmic coincidence?

All those things; all the history of Nintendo games we've ever known here in the form of mere pixels on a screen... A reality out there, somewhere... Somehow... What if that place in space has actually existed for as long as we have here, for billions of years?

Again, it's just starts with that question we can look to the stars with... And perhaps wonder about.

First things first. Let's try to paint a little mental picture of Sector N, shall we?

From a top-based axis view of this galactic realm, one would see four main star systems that could be evenly divided into quadrants of themselves like a pie. Also, when looked at generally, each of these realms of space are roughly the same size in terms of their "territory," but there is still a largest and smallest system.

Beginning in the top right quadrant, going around in a counter-clockwise direction, there is the Nassazar System.

This is the 2nd largest of the star systems in terms of space and its vast number of orbiting worlds, but it's not the largest star in the sector. In fact, the Nassazar is a yellow medium star of very similar albeit slightly greater mass, brightness, and solar energy output to that of our own Sun.

Here, there are 18 planets being granted the light and warmth of the star. Of all these celestial bodies, the most significant is called Veradeena and stands as the representative world of this whole system.

Despite being physically about 1.25 times the size of Earth, Veradeena's atmospheric conditions are practically identical so we would be able to live there without any real issues. That actually goes for most of the civilized planets here in the Nassazar System, but back to Veradeena.

On this planet alone, there are vast oceans which boast almost a dozen scattered continents with various lands (even ancient places in the sky too). All the Mario, Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, and Kid Icarus related characters, creatures, and sentient beings live here on this central world. The next planet over is inhabited with all the characters and societies from Pokémon, for instance.

Indeed, 12 of the 18 planets in the system are civilized due to the very close proximity of orbits in the star's habitable zone. Thus, they're sufficient to support life.

Extensive biologic and evolutionary research over the years has also concluded that the Nassazar System boasts the widest range of lifeforms in the whole sector, because across all of Nassazar's worlds, roughly 60% of the system's total population is that of creature or beast beings, while the remaining 40% are humanoid. That includes either Hylian (exclusively abiding on the continent of Hyrule), slightly altered humanoids, or parallel human beings like our own selves.

Planet Veradeena, with Mushroom City in the Mushroom Kingdom more specifically, is considered the political and administrative center for all the happenings of the Nassazar System. Geographically, Mushroom City is a coastal city located on the Mushroom Kingdom's west coast at the middle latitudes.

The cityscape is very widespread over the coastal prairies so it's about equivalent in size to a combined urban area like, say... Houston and Galveston, Texas. When all the suburban populations are added to that of the main urban area, over 10 million people abide there.

In the larger picture of Sector N, Mushroom City is not a "big city" by a long shot. However, it's the 2nd biggest city on Planet Veradeena behind New Donk City further south. Think of all the major cities on planets throughout the Nassazar system as not too large per say, but many of them are around that same size.

Across in the top left quadrant, there is the slightly smaller Lylat System which retains its own collection of 12 worlds.

Despite actually being the smallest of the systems in terms of total space territory, it's surely the biggest in many other, more important aspects soon to be discussed.

Centered by the star Lylat, also deemed the "Gentle Blue Giant," this star system is of course home to the highly sophisticated societies that are comprised of the anthropomorphic animal characters from (including but not limited to) Star Fox.

The most important planet here without a doubt is Corneria, because it's the most advanced in practically all aspects of Lylatian existence.

To put it in perspective, its capital for example, Corneria City, is a truly sprawling futuristic urban landscape that's home to almost 2 billion people. For the record, Corneria City is also the biggest city in all of Sector N, not surprisingly.

Yet, it has managed to stay impressively harmonious with the surrounding environment. It is a very clean city over all, and many even call it a "garden city" because of the extensive vegetation both in and around it, adding a nice and even stark natural contrast amid all the high-tech futuristic vistas.

Like with Planet Veradeena, Corneria is also physically a bit larger than Earth but it retains almost the exact same planetary conditions, so we'd be able to live there too without problems. It is home to approximately 85% of all the sentient life in Lylat, which is really saying something. Perhaps that is the main reason why it's considered as the system's primary world, even though it's the fourth orbiting planet out from the star.

Unlike the Nassazar System, some planets remain almost completely unexplored except for an outpost or two, and are likewise a breeding ground for more shadowed activities.

Most importantly though is how the Lylat System, thereby meaning Corneria, also stands as Sector N's respected technological center, cultural capital, and political hub. Various trans-sectarian summits often occur each year which involve governments from lands and worlds all over. After converging there in the capital, the political proceedings play out like they normally would.

Alternately, Corneria is considered the military powerhouse of the "Primary Three" Star Systems. After all, it was the Cornerians who first reached out to the Nassazar and Aminuss to conduct extensive surveying of their neighbors, even charting the whole space and thus making the full map of Sector N that most people know and still use to this day.

Naturally it is widely speculated that the Lylat System might in fact be the oldest system here in this galactic sector due to it being the most technologically advanced, but even so, that is still a subject of much debate.

In the bottom left quadrant quadrant sits the second smallest system, the Aminuss System.

This is a binary star system with a blue medium star (Ami) and a yellow medium star (Nuss). The two suns conduct a cosmic dance closely together and this realm of space offers its inhabitants the phenomena to still experience days and nights, but depending on the time, two suns are up there in the sky. Occasionally they can all look down at their feet and witness two distinct shadows.

Although the Aminuss System retains a couple more planets than the Lylat System (14 to be exact, which also makes it slightly larger by spacial territory), these worlds however are quite opposite in their biological variety.

Instead of primarily anthropomorphic animals, exclusively human and humanoid lifeforms inhabit these worlds, with characters such as those from Battalion Wars on the unified Planet of Nations, the Xenoblade Chronicles on the Bionis, the various worlds from Metroid, and others.

A particular planet called Kyterra is here too, which coincidentally or not, resides on the third orbit out from the binary stars and is practically an exact replica of our own Earth in terms of physical attributes, meaning the continental shapes and arrangements in relation to the oceans are the same as what we know. Its cultures, technology, and ways of life in general however, are virtually unrecognizable due to being so far ahead of our own.

The population is almost teeming to the brim on this world with 12 billion total. Just think of its global capital, Mute City, which boasts approximately 1 billion people (though it's still a mere half that of Corneria City).

Concurring with that idea, Kyterra is indeed the place where characters from F-Zero, Punch Out, Earthbound, and others all live; again while being a kind of parallel type of human lifeforms to us.

There is, however, a sort of anomaly in the studied biologic evolution existing here too, for the twin worlds of Dreamland and Pop Star are where all the Kirby related characters abide. Even though they're here in this planetary system, they are indeed a standout from the otherwise vast majority of humanoid sentient life.

Finally, on the bottom right quadrant, there is simply what's known to most as the Empty Quarter.

Purely by spatial terms, this part of Sector N is actually the largest of them all. That being said, however, it's nothing more than a seemingly baron realm of vast asteroid fields, nebula clouds, and other cosmic artifacts that whisper echoes of a once very different space so long ago.

Only one observed massive planet exists in the farther reaches of this quadrant, and that is, quite primitively, deemed Mystery World.

No one has ever really thought to examine this large celestial body in detail due to its very thick layers of dense, opaque gases that make up its apparent atmosphere. Mostly though, it's also because of its very isolated location. There is not even knowledge if a physical surface exists on the planet or not, let alone any hints of viable conditions for life to survive.

The central star here in which Mystery World orbits very slowly around is a much older red super-giant, scientifically designated as R-81. However, it's more commonly nicknamed "The Great Tomato," probably because it is indeed the most visible "red" star in the skies at night.

Lastly, but perhaps most significantly, it's the simple fact how this star is reaching the final phase of its life, which only makes it all the more undesirable to risk exploring the surrounding space.

Because of all this, the Empty Quarter is not actually considered to be an official quadrant in terms of civilization, or a part of what everyone calls the other "Primary Three" star systems, to be more specific.

As was briefly touched upon, the night skies on the worlds of Sector N are very rich; especially when observed in the rural areas. It's an astonishingly beautiful experience for any stargazing enthusiast, and depending on the orientation of the planet one is on, sometimes other stars and even other planets in the sector can be seen as the biggest and brightest specks of light among the sky.

Also, since Sector N resides quite a bit closer to our galaxy's center than our own Solar System, the straddling band of the Milky Way's center is much bigger; showing more brilliantly and clearly for all to see.

Highly advanced technologies such as travel on galactic space routes crisscross the sector like cosmic highways, allowing for very efficient travel via warp speed zones from anywhere to anywhere at anytime, really. Once arriving in proximity of the destined system though, warp speed zones are strictly ceased and piloting under regulated slower speeds are mandatory for navigation, much like driving carefully through a town or neighborhood to avoid any catastrophic accidents.

Distances in-between each system would seem vast to someone's perception regardless, but it does actually vary depending on where one wants to go.

Think of the major warp speed zones as a huge triangular route. Journeying across from the Nassazar System down to the Aminuss System, for example, would be the longest route because it's the hypotenuse, if you will, of the sector. The routes from either of those systems to Lylat, on the other hand, are much shorter because they're adjacent to one another.

It takes almost 12 hours on average, depending on the class of warp drive and size of the spacecraft, to go from the Nassazar to the Aminuss. Contrarily, it takes just under 6 hours to get from either star system to Lylat and vice versa, so travelers must always plan accordingly for these time differences.

The more important matters that include media, trade, commerce, politics, diplomatic relations, military alliances, and just general communication by way of computer technologies between the "Primary Three" Solar Systems and all their worlds have been common place for several centuries now.

Again though, this is due in large part to the Lylat System's efforts over the decades. Despite their far superior technological capabilities, they have used them only for good and have managed to introduce, establish connections, and bring everyone together in the known galaxy.

Conflicts and wars in the sector's recorded history so far have only been limited to individual lands and worlds within each star system. Never before has there been a sectarian-wide war, and with all honesty, who wouldn't want to keep it that way?

That's why inter-sectarian politics always push for close alliances, deals, and even compromises to maintain the peace existing between planets. The bases of different armies, at least for the more technologically advanced nations or worlds, are often stationed on other planets besides their own as a result, and cooperation between militaries is quite common for a given matter.

For example, the Mushroom Kingdom's armed forces might collaborate with those of Hyrule, or on a broader scale, with the Western Frontier or Corneria if need be because again; some retain their own bases in those places.

As a more direct comparison, it's just like how major countries here have bases in different regions across the world for those same purposes.

Unfortunately, even with all these good measures in place, there are still some people who seem to dread what may come in the future. They collectively foresee a coming conflict that could reach an apocalyptic scale and plunge the whole sector into a true nightmare.

That being said though, it'd be very unlikely for something of that nature to happen any time; at least in the near future.

While individual worlds of course retain their unique identities, ways of life, and cultures (with some being more advanced than others), it's in the intergalactic spaces between where there is a sort of common way, and those aforementioned technologies are used by all for travel and communication's sake.

Speaking of communication, it should also be noted that the mother tongue language spoken throughout the sector is deemed "Galactican," or their exact equivalent to what we know as English.

A final but nonetheless important social insight is how views on love are largely opened and carefree. Here in Sector N, love is love, as long as it's not a crime of course (i.e assault), and everyone respects that. People develop relationships with whomever they feel truly attached to and no real second thoughts are given, because just like in our world, it can simply be the nature of things.

The emotional forces of love are one of the great mysteries that flow across the universe after all, and likewise it should never be restricted to one's orientation and/or gender.

In contrast to those matters, recreation and entertainment are huge across all of Sector N. Festivities, celebrations, games, and contests are frequently held in honor of the vast array of cultural traditions, with some even on a truly grand scale that involves the entire known galaxy.

Definitely the most popular of these are the quadrennial occurring Smash Tournaments, which have existed since the sector was fully "united" two centuries ago, so to speak. Much like our own world's Olympic Games, these tournaments are exactly what they sound like: A series of competitions held mainly in celebration for everyone to enjoy.

Each time, as it draws closer to the occasion every four years, hype from both the media and the general public in awaiting these tournaments is often on crazy levels all across the sector. Sounds rather familiar, doesn't it?

Any number of contestants, including those already famous from previous events and newcomers alike, can make the journey to test their fighting skills and ultimately "smash" their opponent, no matter where they may hail from in the known galaxy.

The prospect of smashing an opponent in these tournaments is actually something of a great mystery as well, having many variations in different folklore as far as its origins go.

All that can really be said is that a mystical, indefinite force discovered back in ancient times has somehow been harnessed and transposed into handcrafted trophy models, carved from a special bronze-tinted wood. It's thought to be very sacred, and each of them are made uniquely for every one of the smashers who enter. This force forms a sort of aurora that grants total body protection when the smasher touches it, so they feel no pain during their fight.

A physical system is also in play here, because in place of pain, it's all about the knockback instead. Just like in the Super Smash Bros. games, it's a simple concept: The more forcefully a fighter gets struck, the farther they get knocked back, only now this is in reality.

The end objective is of course not to maim or kill, but to knock the opponent off the platform which they're fighting on top of using any techniques necessary.

Keep in mind though, that it's all being used in a friendly competition. These Quadrennial Smash Tournaments go with an entire dedicated week of other celebrations intended to remind everyone of the peace and unity that always prevails in transcending boundaries between all the different worlds, and even the different star systems.

During these tournaments, the whole sector is more strongly united than during any other time.

So... Here we have an entire interstellar society... A realm of space boasting so many worlds, lifeforms, different cultures, and ways of life; all while living in harmony with one another, totally unseen... Unknown to us who don't even understand our own celestial home among the stars that well.

Could this entire mysterious notion just be a wondrous figment of our childhood imaginations? Even a remnant of dreams from something indefinite we might have known in the past? Or, is it actually a place where one could possibly go?

Are our realms of existence divided on purpose by some sort of invisible force for reasons we can't understand, despite the fact that we share the same galaxy?

Perhaps... It's like a sort of rift?

Again, it all resides within that first prospective question.

But what would possibly happen... If someone, or something, discovered a way between?

That's the greater mystery.

One Last Promise
On the edge of possible death, Fox recalls a certain moment between him and his father years ago. This piece comes from "Through Fractured Time", my Super Smash Bros. story where Fox is a central character, yet I found it also works quite well as an impressionistic one-shot. Plus I hoped it might attract a wider interest in said story from some of you here in the Star Fox fandom.
