Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello, I am Metaknight4ever, and I am an experienced author! My fluency in English and gentle nature are sure to help in beta reading your story! I am willing to be a full-time personal Beta-reader to anyone who wants my services. I've recently started Beta-reading for Hetalia. I'm very inquisitive about History, and if you look at my strengths and weaknesses, there are lists of the Pros and Cons of choosing me as your Beta-reader. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am an Honors English Student, and I have been writing for at least six years now. I enjoy making use of the English language as much as I can, and I enjoy helping people one-on-one. I read at an unusual speed, so if you haven't received your docx back, it's because I haven't read it yet, or I haven't finished writing up the verdict. Finally, I am an honest person, but I also have a gentle nature. I don't like hurting people's feelings, but I also don't like sugar coating my words. I'm the kind of person to ask if you want a Beta-reader who can be firm, yet understanding at the same time. If you're into Hetalia, I have a few skills to consider: I study German, Latvian, Early American, and Russian culture and history, so I can give any advice in any of those areas, and a few others. I also speak some Spanish and rudimentary Latvian, so if you needed to know that, you could ask me (Note: my Spanish, though fairly fluent, is not perfect, and I am not as advanced as some other Betas are. My Latvian is extremely basic, but because it is a "rare" language, I can offer more help than most). |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am really not someone you should have for a beta reader if you are on an extremely prompt schedule. I have a horrid habit of logging on every day, and then disappearing for months. I try to come on as often as I can, but I have a tight schedule (It loosens during the summer), and sometimes beta-reading can take several hours to complete. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I like to read: Platonic stories, Sweet Romance stories, Funny stories, Well-Researched stories, Serious stories, Sad stories, Happy stories, Stories with Characters I like, Informational stories, Dark Stories, Purely-Crack Stories, Long stories, Short Stories, Somewhere-in-the-Middle stories, Cute Stories, Deep stories, Stories with Happy Endings, Stories that Make you Laugh, Stories that Make you Cry, Clean or Moderately Clean stories, Historical stories, Fantasy Stories, Friendship stories, Parental stories, etc. You'd think that there wasn't a kind of story I don't like. Well... |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't care for: Emo Stories, Heavily OOC stories, Character-Bashing stories, Stories with Mary Sues in them, Stories with Yaoi/Shounen-ai, Yuri/Shoujo-ai, Incest/Twincest, or Straight Hentai of any kind, Poorly Researched Stories, Stories that cross the "Sad vs. Melodramatic" Line, Stories that cuss up the page so bad that you need a bar of soap to look at the computer again, Hetalia stories that don't respect History, Stories with OCs that are boring/the same (Everyone's OC is a fiery silly teenager all of a sudden), etc. There are a few things on this list that I'm supposed to help you to fix, but most of these are just stories I stictly don't read. |
