Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Generally, my work comes with correcting grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and word choice. That's what I focus on, anyways. However, I do everything else a general Beta is supposed to do, too. As for my expectations, they're pretty simple. Respect is the first thing I expect, and it should be the first thing you expect. I also don't like being rushed. I work hard to Beta your story and put a lot of effort into correcting it for you, so I don't like it when you rush me to hurry up. That being said, you can be sure that I can Beta your story in a decent amount of time, as it doesn't take me a long time anyways. I except general literacy, and somebody who has a decent concept as a writer and proper English. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and word choice are my strengths. Getting a certain message across in very few words, or a lot of words if that's what you want, is something I'm good at. Delivery and presentation is everything, after all. Spelling and grammar is a pet peeve of mine, so trust when I say I'm diligent on that. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I do not rewrite any part of your story. I will rearrange some words, fix some spelling and grammar mistakes, and make sure your sentences are complete and concise. But I do not rewrite material. I also have some issues in transitioning, but I am working on it. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I will only Beta a story if it's a fandom I am familiar with. I prefer to Beta stories where all of the canon characters are IN character. I would mostly Beta in the Anime section. Things from the Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragonball Z, Naruto, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon, etc. fandoms. However, there are some other fandoms I would Beta for. Such as anything with Batman in it, Star Trek, and the Call of Duty (Modern Warfare) fandom. But I could really Beta for anything. So long as it's a good and interesting story. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Any story with a horrible Mary-Sue character (which for me means a character who is perfect in every way and outshines every other character, including the canons). Anyways, I have no problem with Yaoi, Yuri, or Heterosexual relationships. I do have a problem with canon characters being horribly OUT of character. I don't mind any timeline. Can be canon, AU, or anything in between. However, I will not Beta crossovers. |
