Reviews for My Vietnam
Reaper Nanashi chapter 13 . 6/29/2019
I figured out about a quarter to two-thirds of the way in what was going on. Didn't think I'd find this that emotional. Of course, I also expected Tori to merely hear about it in passing, too, and then have to deal with whatever the circumstances around that were.

In any case, amazing job! A particularly gripping chapter. :)

this is so good, one of the best oc fics i've ever read. i love how you've crafted such an intricate story and your worldbuilding was great, i particularly loved seishi and everything about her past and relationships and i hope toriko rescues her dad
kedig82 chapter 15 . 3/5/2018
I would like to say I've read PYLO and My Vietname nonstop and my God, it is so well written, with interesting characters and the amazingly confusing and complicated way you've narrated Toriko's relationship with each of her family and the people around her never fails to be in awe of your skills. You may never continue this sequel still I'd like to applaud you and tell you how thankful I am that you've written stories as interesting as these. I admire Seishi bitchiness and all and absolutely adore Toriko. Kudos to you and thanks for these lovely stories!
Verdantia Akalixi chapter 15 . 9/4/2017
This is an unrecognized gem of a fic. I know this may never be continued but gosh dang it and its predecessor were amazing to read. :)
Renangel chapter 15 . 2/8/2017
Wow, I read the original Put Your Lights On waaaaaaay back when it wasn't complete and was thrilled to discover you'd completed it recently. It was every bit as good as I remembered it being. Your characters are so three dimensional and realistic. Hoping to see more of this soon!
Viva-taquitos chapter 15 . 3/12/2016
Wahooo! I was just thinking about this story, and wondering when/if you would update again. I'm so thrilled that you've chosen to continue.

Even though longtime readers *cough, like me, cough cough* knew it was coming (as I'm sure you, as the author, did too), Seishi's death was still difficult to accept. Toriko's sense of loss, mourning, shame, and guilt are all things 'normal' humans experience, and you've written that spectacularly. Even though she is a superhuman, Toriko still has difficult accepting it. I'm not sure if you meant it to be written that way, but that's how I took it! It's pretty amazing that you're able to pull off the two sides of this character: she is both god-like and vulnerable at the same time. Sephiroth was written the same - when he was around, anyway!

I'm pumped to see what happens. In addition, seeing you continue with this story inspires me to keep writing my own fanfics. Can't wait for the next update!
XAngelFeatherX chapter 15 . 3/10/2016
Well written and overall just a solid chapter. I thorougly enjoyed reading this and I am quite looking forward to reading the next chapter. I was completely absorbed into the emotion in it. I can see how Toriko will crack sooner rather than later, and you managed to convey that quite well. Also, I'm glad Tseng is trying to do what he can, it makes me happy. I'm happy that Toriko has allies, she desperately needs them.

Thank you for updating and working so hard! Good luck with the writing! :D ... Now to reread the chapter and really soak up all the details.
Yijonglan123 chapter 15 . 3/10/2016
Thanks for update, and long one at that!
Suddenly, the story is going to be much more complex, with more maturing changing characters.
Ardwynna Morrigu chapter 15 . 3/10/2016
Lol, yes, the outline for my current project was the first thing I retrieved today when my laptop started acting up. Sit on it too long and then when you finally decide to do something with it...
Anyhow, I love what you've done in this chapter, from showcasing the physical effects of Geostigma to Tori's guilt and grief and budding maturity under the circumstances. Prez Shinra continues to be a nasty old inhuman creep, just a fine example of the worst excuse for a person, treating others as less than people. I'm looking forward to seeing where Tseng's sentimental machinations lead, and more of Rufus's mother.
TOWTWUKER chapter 15 . 3/10/2016
Reading, sleeping, working, jerking, etc. ... not necessarily in that order. ;p
Whispers in the Dawn chapter 14 . 3/8/2016
Will the story be continued? Because I really liked pylo and this one looked like it would be just as well and I'd like to see what happens next, like whether sephiroth really is speaking to her through the lifestream and how your going to handle the avatars. I hope the story continues, it's really good
Hinatinha chapter 14 . 12/30/2015
A very good fic. I Will hope someday you update this story...
yijonglan chapter 13 . 7/6/2015
Ahhh...
What a beautiful chapter, such a tender love between mother and daughter.
Almost brought tears twice.
Thank you the beautiful dreams.
Bjanik chapter 3 . 5/24/2015
I actually sort of felt SORRY for Hojo when he recalled child Sephiroth's behavior, and that is an accomplishment. I know Hojo is a bad guy and shouldn't be treating people as specimens in the first place, but having to constantly deal with a kid who is completely uncooperative and breaks things and makes constant mischief... I had some pangs of sympathy.

I think this is one of your best talents, to make an essentially negative character sympathetic without diluting their bad side at all.
TheMadame chapter 14 . 4/28/2015
Glancing through my review history I realized I haven't reviewed several chapters, shame on me. Anyway, decided to reread this (again, this is the third time xD), and I am still loving it so darn much. I can hardly wait to see how things will turn out from here on out.

Will Toriko go to Cosmo Canyon after this then perhaps? Make some diversion and then be able to run off to Nibelheim? I am eager to see how she'll react to the truth hnnngh!

And I totally feel ya on the outlines looking good at first and then it's just a mess when you actually think about it, hahaha. Have you tried working with a plotting worksheet? Might help you gather your thoughts.
