I like it

While this plot-wise is a nice little fic, there's one thing you could improve with your writing style: Make sure to stick to past tense, instead of at times switching back and forth between past and present tense, e.g. like in "Yes, his case load is heavy", etc. I know, it is always heavy, however, it is better style to write "Yes, his case load was heavy". My teachers back when kept correcting exactly that in my essays for years. I never got their point until after I graduated. Years after. No wonder I never managed a grade above average back in school for my written stuff. ;)
