this was an interesting concept but the actual writing didnt engage with me enough to get past chapter one. i cant really call this criticism constructive since I dont really know what puts me off about it.

That was fun. Got a bit nervous you were pushing some sort of agenda with this riot (considering recent events and all) but you didn't and that is good.

It's tough to see exactly where you're going with this, you've taken a character that didn't have a lot of development and made her incredibly powerful, Zion is strong enough to still be a threat but anything else falls short. You've written a lot of interesting and enjoyable stories for Worm though, so I'll asume that this will be of a similar quality. Looking forward to the next chapter.

i have a suggestion a self insert into danny hebert and according to wiki he has a dormant power master like his daughter but for rats and if he became butcher and his master power let him control the voices and decides to be a rogue instead of a villain would need a new name besides butcher

Anyways, Eternal makes her debut; I wonder how Fortuna will feel about that. I found it slightly amusing that the cop was more worried about the media then another gunmen.

I can think of a reason for six black guys to be beating up a cop - they could have witnessed the cop breaking the law and are arresting him. The US legal system dates back to 1789 but the concept of modern police forces was first invented in 1815, in England (and didn't make it to North America until decades later).

Prior to the adoption of modern police systems, policing occurred on a model very much like a Sheriff's posse in an old Western movie - Sheriff gets some guys together, each of those guys supplies their own weapons, Sheriff deputizes them temporarily and they go catch the bad guys. Even without a Sheriff being involved, individual citizens were expected to be sufficiently educated on the law to recognize when crimes were in progress and to take the perpetrator into custody by themselves if necessary.

That old system has mostly been replaced by the modern police system, but the laws supporting the old system were never repealed in most states. Every state except North Carolina recognizes some form of citizen's arrest (as it is called). Some (Texas, for example) even have formal statutes recognizing citizen's arrest.

So if a black guy sees a cop commit a crime and attempts to make a citizen's arrs and the cop violently resists being arrested, it is legal in most states to use force to keep the cop's resistance from succeeding, which means there really could be six black guys beating up a single cop in that scenario, and it would be completely legal.

It's also true that very few cops would accept an acquittal of the six black guys for attacking the cop, even though it would indeed have been the right thing for the court to do.

I am liking this, especially the other viewpoints. Now, I can't tell if her going out like this was just boredom or if it was the shard doing its thing, but heading out like this is all kinds of not subtle.
On another note; since PtV can work on Chantelle, this had to have been planned for. And having a story with PtV as such an important part and still be interesting is good to see.
