ladyspock7 chapter 1 . 7/19/2017
Boy, I know what that feels like, to have someone make a mean comment right out of left field, taking you off guard. You describe that 'sick loose' feeling in the stomach very well. That kind of thing is pretty common in childhood before you start to get hardened and wary against unexpected attacks. I liked the conversation with Uncle Larry a lot, and I'm very glad he didn't belittle Megamind for wanting the bridal magazine; he was just genuinely bewildered, as the boy'd interest didn't really match up with Larry's idea of what a boy should be interested in. Very nice how he went through the magazine with him, and even ended up telling him a story. It fits in well with the "This is How the Story Goes" script that Megamind follows.

Such a great wedding! Wayne officiating, and the whole thing taking place in front of the city, and Roxanne shoring him up because he's almost too wobbly to stand, he's on the verge of falling apart. That deep-seated belief that he's not worthy of love, certainly not Roxanne's love, is so hard to overcome. Wonderful ending!

You do a fine job of conveying just how much more getting married means to Megamind than it would to us random citizens. Those childhood scenes should be in writing textbooks next to "Show, don't tell." And his adult nervousness and over-the-top joy are really well depicted. Fine story.
Elf Kid2.0 chapter 1 . 7/14/2017
This is a really nice story.

I loved the beginning. The but about a "real" family just about broke my heart. The but with the bridal magazine e, the dress, and the fairytale, was extremely well done. I could really visualize the scene, and it felt very plausible.

I especially like the use of story-based understanding of causality, events, and social roles. It seems very appropriate to the characters.

The proposal was excellent. Every word.

The wedding itself was a joy to read. I especially liked the bit about the earrings he gave her on Christmas; that was a really great detail. The insecurities/worries, felt very real, as did his awareness of them being irrational and thus trying to ignore/counter them in his head.

This is a beautiful, beautiful story and I greatly enjoyed it. Thank You for writing this. :)
Oliver2016 chapter 1 . 7/13/2017
This. Was. SO LOVELY! And kinda heartbreaking in the beginning! Little Megs with all kinds of questions getting 'the talk'!

And the angst! I love your angst! And fluff! And they finally got hitched! I like that Wayne did the thing, nice touch ;-)
MarsyB chapter 1 . 7/12/2017
Oh my gosh I LOVE this! It makes me so happy! Little Megamind is so vulnerable and sweet. I like you going into the things he wouldn't understand because of where he was raised. I like that he understands that him as a hero isn't the same as anyone else and it seems very in character that he wouldn't ever accept himself as a real hero. Little things like the wavy lines from glue, his uncle's corrected slip ups while explaining weddings, the crowd's laughter usually having teeth, all of those stuck with me so well that having only read this once just a moment ago I can remember being struck by them. I cam tell I am going to reread this one several times and eventually force
my husband to let me read it to him out loud. Great job!

Awww...this is...well...better than perfectGreat job capturing Megamind's feelings. The way you describe how something inside him slightly breaks loose, when he realizes his family isn't quite right. That hurt to read...you really hit it just right.
The way his panic and doubt take over his thoughts, dang...made me feel more than bad for him. I felt almost a bit of panic myself.
So great job Displacer, another great tale, perhaps another chapter will come up or is it just a One Shot to go with the other story? Either way, great work!
