I liked it a lot. I hope you'll continue writing more 'what ifs.' I agree with your author's notes. I loved the face that Howl had already fallen really and truly in love with Sophie even before he got his heart back. It's speaks a lot of their love.

As for the story...nice concept...Sophie's monologue at the beginning of the last segment is good, it sounds a lot like the author. i think Sophie is in character, but Howl's a little too honest. stupid Howl. how do we know when he would be serious? i guess the thought of Sophie leaving would be enough to make him tell the truth...
